Royal Ascot is a dress code with a horse race attached. Morning dress, hats, heels and a great deal of champagne do not combine well with a distant car park and a shuttle bus, which is why the vehicle is part of the outfit rather than an afterthought.
Tuesday to Saturday in June, each with its own character and its own crowd. Ladies Day on the Thursday is the busiest and the one that books out our vehicles first, usually by the spring.
The enclosure decides your dress, your arrival and your exit
Ascot is not one event. The enclosures have different dress codes, different entrances and different atmospheres, and the practical arrangements follow from which badge you are wearing.
Formal, and enforced
Morning dress for men, hats rather than fascinators for women, and a strict interpretation of both. It is also the enclosure where arriving flustered is most obviously a problem, so we build the biggest time buffer for these guests.
The main enclosure
Smart dress with its own published requirements, a large crowd and the busiest gates. Arrive early enough to enjoy it rather than queue through it.
Livelier, later
A younger crowd, music after racing and a considerably later finish. If your badge is here, book the return for well after the last race rather than for the last race.
Timed to your package
Boxes and restaurant packages have their own arrival windows and often run long past the final result. We collect to your itinerary rather than to the racecard.
The five days, and how they differ
Each day of the royal meeting has its own personality, and the transport requirements shift with it. These are the patterns we plan around.

Berkshire from Kent: the long way round the M25
Ascot sits west of London, so from our patch it is the M25 clockwise and then the M3 or the M4. There is no shortcut and race week adds significantly to the final few miles.

What makes an Ascot booking different
The shoes are the whole argument
Every year, people book the tickets, plan the outfit and give no thought at all to the last quarter mile. Racecourse car parks are large, uneven and a long way from the gates, and a shuttle bus in June sunshine while wearing morning dress is nobody's idea of an occasion. A set-down close to the entrance and a collection from the same place is the difference between arriving as you intended and arriving as you actually are.
Nobody wants to be the designated driver at Ascot
It is a champagne meeting. Pretending otherwise is silly, and asking one member of a party to sit it out is a poor way to treat them. A booked vehicle removes the conversation entirely, and once split across six or eight people it usually costs less per head than the parking, the fuel and the resentment combined.
The last race is not the end of the day
Racing finishes and then a great deal continues: the bandstand, the bars, the long walk to find the rest of your group. Our drivers hold position rather than working to the racecard, and the fare does not change while you finish the day properly. Tell us roughly when you expect to emerge and we will plan for later than that.
Hospitality, corporate boxes and multiple pick-ups
A large share of our Ascot work is corporate: a box, a table, clients being collected from several addresses across Kent and London on the way in. That runs as one job with one invoice, a VAT receipt for accounts, and a driver who understands that the return happens when the last guest is ready rather than at a time set in a spreadsheet.

How close can you drop us at Ascot?
As close to the enclosure entrances as raceday traffic management allows, which is considerably closer than the public car parks. Given the dress code, this is the single most appreciated part of the service. We confirm the drop point for your specific enclosure before the day.
What time should we leave Kent for Royal Ascot?
For a one o'clock arrival, most Kent pick-ups run between quarter past nine and quarter past ten depending on where you are. Ascot is west of London and race week congests the final approaches badly, so we allow properly rather than optimistically. The table above breaks it down by area.
Which day is busiest?
Thursday, comfortably. Ladies Day and the Gold Cup draw the biggest and best-dressed crowd of the week, and it is the date our vehicles are committed for earliest, usually by spring. If you want that day, book well ahead.
Will the driver wait after the last race?
Yes, and we plan for it. Racing ending is not the same as the day ending, particularly in the Village and Windsor enclosures where music continues afterwards. The driver holds position and the fixed fare does not change.
Can you take a corporate group with several pick-ups?
Yes. Multiple collection points across Kent and London on one job, a single contact, one invoice and a VAT receipt. Vehicles from a saloon up to a forty-nine-seat coach, with more than one vehicle run together for larger parties.
Is a car cheaper than driving ourselves?
For a group, usually. Once you total the fuel, the car park, the long walk and the fact that someone has to stay sober all day at a champagne meeting, a fixed-fare vehicle split six or eight ways is generally the better deal as well as the better day.
Can we stop on the way for lunch or to collect someone?
Yes, and it costs nothing extra provided it is included when the job is priced. Extra collections along the route are common for Ascot bookings and easy to build in.
What if the weather turns?
It frequently does. A vehicle waiting near the gates rather than a shuttle bus and a field is worth a great deal in June rain, and it is one of the reasons repeat customers book us the following year.
Do you cover Ascot outside the royal meeting?
Yes. Ascot races throughout the year, including evening fixtures and jumps racing in the winter, and those days are quieter, cheaper and easier to book at short notice.
Is the fare fixed?
Yes, agreed at booking on postcode, vehicle and timings. Traffic on the M25, a long walk back to the vehicle or a late departure from the enclosure make no difference to what you pay.
