From north Kent to Donington, via the M25 and M1. Around three and a half hours on a clear run, and the arrival day is when that number stops being reliable.

Four things that fill a vehicle at this festival, and only one of them is people.
Not optional
Wellies, waterproofs and a complete change of clothing per person. It takes real space and it is the difference between a good weekend and a miserable one.
Tents and everything with them
Arrival is usually Wednesday or Thursday with departure on Monday. That is a lot of nights and a lot of equipment.
Car park to campsite
Donington's camping is a genuine walk from where vehicles stop. Whatever you pack, somebody carries it a long way.
Muddier than it went
Everything returns wet, filthy and heavier. Bin bags are the most useful thing you will pack.
Kent to Donington
The route is the M25 and then the M1 north, joining at the East Midlands. A straightforward motorway run on a normal day and considerably slower on the festival arrival days.

Practical notes
Arrive on the Wednesday if you can
Early entry means shorter queues, a better pitch and a tent up in daylight. Thursday arrivals join traffic that has been building since the previous evening, and the last few miles into Castle Donington are where the time disappears.
The Monday collection
Set it later rather than earlier. Everybody leaves at once from a site with limited exit routes, and a mid-afternoon departure regularly gets you home before a mid-morning one would. We agree a meeting point off site and hold position until your group is all present.
Size for the mud, not the forecast
Whatever June is doing when you book, pack as though it will rain, because at this site it frequently does. That decision is made at booking, not on the day, because it changes which vehicle we allocate.
Coming home
Everything returns heavier, wetter and dirtier than it left. Bag the wet items, keep them separate, and be aware there is a cleaning charge if a vehicle needs proper attention afterwards. Most groups manage this easily with a handful of bin bags.

How far is Donington from Kent?
About a hundred and seventy-five miles from north Kent, which is roughly three and a half hours on a clear motorway run and up to six on the main arrival days.
Which day should we travel?
Wednesday if you have early entry, because the queues are shorter and you pitch in daylight. Thursday arrivals join traffic that has been accumulating and the final few miles are slow.
Can you carry all our camping gear?
Yes, with the vehicle sized for it. Five days of camping plus wet weather kit takes considerably more room than people expect, so tell us the volume rather than just the head count.
What about mud?
Assume it. Wellies, waterproofs and a full change of clothing per person is the sensible packing list, and it takes real space. Bring bin bags for the return journey.
When do you collect on the Monday?
Later in the day rather than first thing. The whole site leaves at once and the exit routes are limited, so a mid-afternoon departure often beats a morning one.
Is a coach better than a minibus?
For a group over about twelve with full kit, yes, because the luggage travels in a hold rather than competing with passengers for cabin space.
Is there a cleaning charge?
There is if a vehicle needs proper attention afterwards, and we say so plainly rather than hiding it. A few bin bags for wet kit usually avoids it entirely.
How far ahead should we book?
As soon as you have tickets. June is the start of our busiest season and festival vehicles are committed early.
