Sandown Park transfers, for the racing-then-a-band evenings
Sandown does something most courses do not: it puts a live act on after the last race and turns a summer fixture into a proper night out. That changes the timings completely, and it is why booking the return for the final result is a mistake here.

How a Sandown evening actually unfolds
The music nights are the course's signature and the reason a lot of Kent groups make the trip west. Here is the shape of the evening so the transport matches it.
First race
Gates open well before, and the sensible arrival is early enough to eat and get a look at the paddock rather than sprinting from the car.
Last race
The point at which a lot of people wrongly assume the evening ends. The crowd does not thin at all; it moves towards the stage.
The set starts
A full live performance, not a token DJ. This is the reason the ticket costs what it does and the reason you want the car booked late.
Actually finished
And then a large crowd leaves an Esher residential area at once. We collect on the approach roads rather than at the gate.

The course runs both flat and jump racing, so it is busy across the calendar, but the summer evenings are what most Kent groups come for.

Esher from Kent
Sandown sits just inside the M25 to the south-west of London, so from Kent it is the motorway anticlockwise rather than a run through town. Straightforward, and quicker than most people expect.

Getting the timings right
Book the return for eleven, not nine
This is the single most common mistake at Sandown and it is entirely avoidable. People see a last race at quarter to nine, book a car for nine, and then either miss the act they paid for or pay to change the booking. On a music night the evening runs a further two hours after the racing finishes. Tell us it is a music fixture and we will set the return accordingly without you having to think about it.
Esher is residential, so the collection sits back
The course is surrounded by a quiet Surrey neighbourhood and the roads immediately outside fill quickly when several thousand people leave at once. We wait on the wider approach roads, a few minutes' walk away, which gets you moving considerably faster than queuing at the gate would. The exact point is sent before the end of the night.
Winter jump racing is the quiet secret
Sandown's National Hunt cards are genuinely good and the winter crowd is a fraction of the summer one. Afternoon fixtures, dark by the finish, a straightforward exit and much lower demand on our vehicles. If you want quality racing without the night-out element, this is when to go.
Group nights out
The music fixtures suit a minibus better than cars, because the whole point is that nobody is driving. Birthdays, work summer outings and hen parties make up a good share of what we run here, and the return being fixed and pre-paid takes the one genuine worry out of an evening a long way from home.

What time should we book the return for a music night?
Around eleven, not the last race. The live act starts after racing finishes and runs for a considerable time afterwards. If you book for nine you will miss most of what you paid for. Tell us it is a music fixture and we will set it correctly.
Where do you collect from?
The wider approach roads a few minutes' walk from the course rather than the gate itself. Esher is residential and the immediate streets clog when the crowd leaves. Walking briefly gets you home considerably sooner.
How long does it take from Kent?
Around an hour and a quarter from Gravesend, a little under an hour from Bromley, and an hour and a half from Medway. The M25 anticlockwise keeps you out of London entirely. The return late at night is faster.
Do you cover the Eclipse meeting?
Yes. It is a serious flat fixture with a bigger and smarter crowd than the evening meetings, run in the afternoon, so the timings are completely different. Worth booking a little further ahead.
Can you take a hen or birthday group?
Yes, and the music nights are popular for exactly that. A minibus is usually the right call, since the entire premise is that nobody drives. One fixed price split across the group.
Do you go to the winter jump meetings?
Yes, and they are much easier to book at short notice. Afternoon racing, smaller crowds, and lower fares because demand is nothing like the summer evenings.
Is the fare fixed?
Yes, agreed at booking on postcode, vehicle and timings. An encore, a slow exit or a later finish than expected do not change what you pay.
Can we eat before racing?
Yes, either at the course or with a stop on the way. An earlier drop or a detour costs nothing extra provided it is included when we price the job.
What if the fixture is abandoned?
Let us know as soon as you do and we will move or cancel without a fee subject to our normal notice period. Winter jump fixtures are the ones most likely to be affected.
Can you do multiple pick-ups across Kent?
Yes. Collecting a group from several addresses on the way out is standard and saves everyone converging on one house first. Build it in when we quote.
