A fifteen-thousand-capacity warehouse in an industrial estate on the edge of Enfield, with events that finish at four, five and six in the morning. This is the venue where booking the return in advance is not a convenience. It is the plan.
A typical finish, and roughly two hours before the transport network becomes useful again. There is nothing around the site: no high street, no rank, no queue of cabs waiting hopefully. What you arranged beforehand is what you get.
The four things that make this venue different
Drumsheds is an outstanding room in a genuinely awkward location. Neither of those facts is a criticism, but the second one has consequences that catch people out every single weekend.
An industrial estate
The site sits among warehouses and distribution units rather than in a neighbourhood. There is no parade of shops, no bus station and nowhere to shelter while you work out a plan.
Long after last trains
Events regularly run to four in the morning and sometimes later. Rail into Kent at that hour does not exist, and the first services are a long wait away.
Everyone wants a car at once
Fifteen thousand people finishing simultaneously in a place with no passing trade means app pricing goes vertical and cancellations climb, exactly when you are least able to deal with either.
Pre-booked, fixed, named
A vehicle booked in advance at a price agreed in advance, with a driver's name and registration sent to your phone. It is a dull solution to an obvious problem and it works every time.

Distances, and why the return is quicker
Meridian Water is north-east London, so from Kent it means crossing the river and running up the A406 or the A10. Going out on a Saturday evening is slow. Coming back at four in the morning is the fastest version of this journey you will ever do.

So we fix the collection point in advance, in writing, with a landmark you can find without a map. Why the fixed price matters more here than anywhere
Surge pricing is a function of demand exceeding supply in a specific place at a specific time. An industrial estate emptying fifteen thousand people at four in the morning is close to a textbook example. Our price is agreed when you book, days or weeks earlier, and it does not respond to what happens on anyone's app that night. For a group, the difference is frequently substantial.
Looking after a tired group
Nobody is at their sharpest after eight hours in a warehouse. We keep it simple: one vehicle, one meeting point, the driver's name and registration sent in advance, and we hold position until everybody has arrived rather than leaving after a token wait. If someone in the group is struggling, tell the driver. It is a long night and we would rather know.
Booking on someone else's behalf
A good share of our Drumsheds bookings are made by a parent, a partner or one organised friend for a group that is not thinking about the journey home at all. That works fine. The booking contact does not have to be travelling, we will send the driver details to whoever is, and the price is confirmed to the person paying.

Realistically, no. Meridian Water has a limited service at the best of times and nothing useful in the small hours, and there is no rail route into Kent at that hour under any circumstances. Night buses exist towards central London but turn a journey home into a multi-hour exercise. A pre-booked car is the practical answer and we would say so even if we did not run them.
Where will the driver meet us?
At a point agreed before you go in, with a landmark you can find without needing your phone. Signal inside is unreliable and batteries do not survive an eight-hour event, so we do not depend on a call at the end. The driver is in position before the finish time.
How much does it cost compared with an app?
We quote a fixed price at the point of booking and it does not change. Apps at an emptying fifteen-thousand-capacity venue in the small hours are subject to heavy surge pricing and a high cancellation rate. Split across a group, a booked minibus is usually a fraction of the surged alternative and it is certain to arrive.
Can you take sixteen or more of us?
Yes. Minibuses are the most-booked vehicle for this venue, with midi coaches and full coaches for bigger groups. One vehicle for the whole party is also the easiest way to make sure nobody gets separated at the end of a long night.
What if the event runs later than advertised?
The driver waits. Finish times at this kind of event are approximate and we plan for that. There is no additional charge for an extra half hour, and we would far rather you took your time than rushed out.
How long is the drive back to Kent?
Faster than you would expect. Fifty minutes to an hour to Gravesend or Dartford, around an hour and ten to Medway. Empty roads are the one genuine benefit of a four in the morning finish.
Can someone else book for us?
Yes, and plenty of people do. A parent, a partner or one organised member of the group can make the booking, and we will send the driver's name and registration to whoever is actually travelling.
Do you also do the journey there?
Yes, though many customers travel out by train while it is still running and book us only for the return. That is a perfectly reasonable split and it is often the cheaper one.
What if we lose people in the group?
We hold position rather than leaving on schedule. Groups scatter at events like this and reassembling takes time. Give the driver a heads-up and we will wait; the fare does not change.
Do you cover other warehouse and festival venues?
Yes, across London and the South East, including the outdoor festival sites where the same problem applies. If it finishes after the trains stop and it is nowhere near a town, it is the sort of job we are set up for.
