Electric Brixton: not the Academy, and that matters
Two well-known venues sit within a few hundred metres of each other on the same Brixton thoroughfare, with similar names and completely different doors. Booking a car to the wrong one is the most common mistake made in SW9 and SW2, and it is entirely avoidable.
Electric Brixton on Town Hall Parade holds around 1,700. The O2 Academy on Stockwell Road holds nearly 5,000. Same area, different postcodes, different meeting points. Tell us which one your ticket is for.
Which Brixton venue are you actually going to?
This is the single most useful thing to establish before anything else about the evening.
Town Hall Parade, SW2
Around 1,700 capacity, beside the Town Hall on Brixton Hill. Late licence, club-led programming.
Stockwell Road, SW9
Nearly 5,000 capacity, the famous sloping floor. A few hundred metres away and a different collection point.
Different meeting points
We collect from different side streets for each. Turning up at the wrong one at 3am is a genuinely bad end to a night.
Same underlying problem
Whichever you are at, the finish is after the network has stopped serving Kent.
The finish times here
Electric Brixton leans more heavily on club programming than the Academy does, which pushes the average finish later.
| Night | Out at | What is running |
|---|---|---|
| Midweek live show | 22:30 | Victoria line, and a workable Kent connection. |
| Weekend gig | 23:00 | Tight. The final leg into Kent is the problem. |
| Club night | 03:00 | Nothing into Kent. Pre-booked car. |
| All-nighter | 05:00–06:00 | Nothing until early services. Pre-booked car. |
South of the river, which helps
SW2 is on our side of the water, so there is no tunnel and no crossing. It is one of the more straightforward central runs from Kent.

How we run a Brixton night
Tell us the venue name, not just Brixton
It sounds pedantic and it saves a great deal of trouble. Two venues, two postcodes, two collection streets. When you book, name the one on your ticket and we will set the meeting point correctly rather than guessing from the area.
The collection is a short walk out
Brixton Hill and the roads around the Town Hall are busy and heavily enforced, and they fill with people at closing time. We hold on a quieter residential street a few minutes away, and the exact spot with the registration goes to your phone before the end of the night.
Late finishes are the whole service
Electric Brixton programmes later than most rooms of its size. At three or four in the morning there is nothing running from SW2 into Kent, and app pricing at that hour in that area is exactly what you would expect. A fixed fare agreed weeks earlier does not respond to any of it.
Groups do best, and safest
One vehicle for the whole party, a named driver and a registration sent in advance is a materially better way to end a night than everyone dispersing separately at closing time. We hold position until the last person arrives rather than leaving on a schedule.
Electric Brixton questions
Starting with the one that causes the most trouble.
Is Electric Brixton the same as O2 Academy Brixton?
No. Electric Brixton is on Town Hall Parade in SW2 and holds around 1,700. The O2 Academy is on Stockwell Road in SW9 and holds nearly 5,000. They are a few hundred metres apart with different doors and different collection points. Name the one on your ticket when you book.
How late can you collect?
Any hour, including five and six in the morning. Electric Brixton programmes later than most rooms its size and the fare does not change with the time.
Where do you collect from?
A quieter residential street a few minutes' walk away, because the roads around the Town Hall are busy and enforced. The exact spot and the vehicle registration go to your phone before the end of the night.
How long back to Kent?
Quick, because there is no river crossing. Twenty-five to forty minutes to Bromley, around an hour to Gravesend, an hour and a quarter to Medway.
Is the train an option?
For a midweek show finishing at half ten, sometimes. For anything later the Kent connection stops working, and for a club night there is no option at all.
Can we book the return only?
Yes, and many people do. Travel in while services are running and book us for the leg that is genuinely difficult.
Can one person book for everyone?
Yes. The booker does not need to travel, and we send the driver's details to whoever is going.
Is the price fixed?
Yes, agreed when you book and unaffected by the hour or by how busy the night is.
