Watford is the one ground you can reach from Kent without going near London. Round the M25 anticlockwise, off at Watford, and you are there. No tunnels, no congestion charge, no crawl across the centre. For a Kent supporter it is the simplest away trip in the south.
The entire journey from Kent runs on the orbital motorway with a short stretch at either end. There is no city driving at all, which makes Vicarage Road easier to reach than half the London grounds despite being further away.

A Watford away day
No London driving at all
This is the practical advantage and it is a real one. Every other away ground within reach of Kent involves either crossing London or a long motorway run. Watford involves neither. The M25 anticlockwise from the Dartford Crossing takes you most of the way, and the last few miles are ordinary Hertfordshire roads. For a group who have sat in the Blackwall Tunnel on the way to a north London fixture, it is a noticeable relief.
