RushXO provides pre-booked private hire for people whose working day doesn't fit a timetable — NHS and healthcare staff, emergency services, social care workers, armed forces personnel and education staff. Early starts, night finishes, journeys between visits, and the run home when nothing else is running.
The journey that goes wrong is almost always the same one: the way home at the end of a shift, arranged at the end of the shift. Book it before you start and it's a fixed fare and a car that's already coming.
Arranging travel for staff? An employer account means an invoice and one supplier rather than a stack of expense claims — and it's usually the thing that makes late-shift travel actually happen.
The end of a shift is the hardest journey to arrange and the one most often left to chance. You're tired, it's late or it's very early, public transport has stopped or hasn't started, and on-demand pricing is at its worst precisely when demand is highest.
All of that is solved by booking it before you go in.
Content team. Confirm genuine availability in the 2200–0000 and 0400–0600 windows, in which areas and at what notice, and scope this section to it. The entire page is about the hours when nothing runs. Promising a car at half four in the morning and not supplying one fails someone who has just worked twelve hours, and it is the fastest way to lose this audience permanently.
A shift starting at seven often means leaving at half five, at which point buses are thin and the first trains may not be moving. A pre-booked car doesn't depend on availability at that hour, because it was arranged the night before.
Different jobs, similar problem. Where we've written about one in more detail, it's linked.
If your job isn't on that list but your working day looks like this, the service is the same — call and describe the journey.
Some of these jobs aren't one journey to one place. A care round, a set of visits, several sites in a day — with fixed times at each and not much room between them.
For longer journeys between towns, see UK-wide private hire, or train station transfers where part of the trip is by rail.
CONDITIONAL SECTION — publishes only after the §01 decision. Three outcomes, three versions:
If RushXO becomes a scheme partner: replace this box with the scheme's name used exactly as its brand guidelines require, the precise discount, what it applies to, what it excludes, and how it's applied. Link to RushXO's own listing on the scheme's directory so the claim is checkable. Nothing about the scheme may appear anywhere on the site before partnership is confirmed — see §03.
If RushXO runs its own rate: state the discount, the eligible occupations, how eligibility is shown, and whether it stacks with anything else. Keep verification light — a work email or a badge shown to the driver, not documents.
If there is no discount: delete this section's heading and keep only the paragraph below, which stands perfectly well on its own. Do not replace it with warm language about valuing key workers.
Fares are quoted upfront and fixed where fixed pricing applies — agreed when you book, with no surge pricing and no adjustment for the hour. On shift travel that matters more than a headline discount does: a fare that doesn't triple at two in the morning is worth more over a year than a percentage off an unpredictable one.
Ask us to quote a regular journey and we'll give you the figure for the whole pattern, so you can see what a month actually costs rather than estimating it.
Written for whoever arranges staff travel rather than whoever takes it — a ward manager, a station office, a care provider, a school business manager.
Expense claims are a poor mechanism for shift travel. Staff pay out of their own pockets at the worst possible moment, some don't claim, and nobody has a clear view of the spend. An account fixes all of it.
See business accounts for the general terms, or call and we'll set one up.
Content team. Same verification as the school staff and armed forces pages, still outstanding on both: confirm the finance process can store a reference against a booking, reproduce it on a consolidated monthly invoice with a per-journey breakdown, and provide a named account contact. This is now asserted on three pages. Verify it once, properly, and fix it everywhere.
Most of these matter more at four in the morning than they do at four in the afternoon.
Set any of these once and they apply to every booking — see travel preferences you can save. No reason needed for any of them.
What we can arrange depends on your specific need, your location and your date, so tell us before booking rather than hoping on the day.
Content team. Publish no claim about wheelchair-accessible vehicles unless RushXO genuinely operates them and can say where and when. If they aren't offered, say so plainly and signpost a provider who does. Replace this box with an accurate statement either way. See also accessibility.
Call "020 8888 9988" or message WhatsApp before booking and we'll tell you honestly what we can arrange.
Insert here — indicative "from" fares for common shift routes. Blocked on operations rather than writing. This audience is doing the arithmetic against a bus fare and a forty-minute walk, and against what on-demand pricing costs at 0200. A price band answers the question a discount was only ever a proxy for.
Examples of journey types — not fixed routes or scheduled services. Everything is quoted individually against its own date, time and addresses.
Group journeys where several colleagues finish together via group and 8-seater transfers.
Or book it the day before. It's the leg that disappears, and the one you least want to arrange when you're tired.
Hospitals, stations and depots are large and the right door at six in the morning isn't always the obvious one.
Handovers overrun. Book a realistic time and say it's uncertain, and we'll tell you what flexibility applies.
A rota block or a weekly shift set up as a pattern, paused when the rota changes.
Quiet journey, pickup point, driver details in advance, message rather than call.
On an employer account, give us the reference and it goes on the invoice.
Content team: verify against the live booking flow. Steps 4, 5 and 6 need a recurring pattern path, a saved preferences profile and an account reference field. None currently exists, and all three have been requested across multiple pages in this series.
The same journey costs the same at two in the morning. No surge on a pre-booked booking.
Arranged when you're fresh rather than at the end of twelve hours.
Set a rota block once. Paused when the rota changes rather than cancelled daily.
A quiet journey and a named pickup point, set once and applied every time.
Your reference on every booking and a monthly invoice with a breakdown.
Several visits in order with the times you need at each.
Driver name, vehicle and registration ahead of travel where available.
Including when a handover has overrun and the plan has changed.
Operator, driver and vehicle licensing set out plainly, with the issuing authority named.
Sites, stations, depots, homes and longer journeys between towns.
What we don't claim: we're an independent private hire company with no NHS, emergency service, local authority or Ministry of Defence contract, and no affiliation with any employer or organisation. What we offer is fixed fares at the hours that cost most everywhere else, and the same journey done reliably enough that you stop thinking about it.
[CONTENT TEAM: this is the highest-traffic question on the page and it must be answered plainly once §01 is decided. If RushXO joins a scheme, name it exactly as its brand guidelines require and link to RushXO's own listing. If RushXO runs its own rate, state the rate, who qualifies and how eligibility is shown. If neither, say so in one sentence and point to the fixed-fare answer below. Do not hedge, and do not name any scheme RushXO has not joined.]
What we can say either way: fares are fixed where fixed pricing applies, which means the same journey costs the same at two in the morning as at two in the afternoon. Over a year of shift travel that is usually worth more than a percentage off an unpredictable fare.
[CONTENT TEAM: confirm genuine availability in that window, in which areas and at what notice, and replace this with the accurate position.] These are pre-booked journeys like any other, with the fare agreed in advance rather than set by demand at that hour. Book the night before at the latest, and earlier for a run of shifts.
Book a realistic finish time rather than the rota one and tell us it might move — handovers overrun and we'd rather plan for it. [CONTENT TEAM: state the actual waiting and amendment policy here. It is the second most important answer on this page.] Alternatively book the outbound and call or message when you're actually finished, subject to availability at that moment.
Yes, and it's easier than booking them one at a time. Set the pattern once and it runs, with a fixed fare where applicable. When your rota changes we pause the pattern rather than making you cancel each booking — just tell us the dates.
No. Where fixed pricing applies the fare is agreed when you book and that's what you pay — not adjusted for the hour, the day or the demand. That's the main reason to pre-book a shift journey rather than arranging one at the end of it.
Yes. Anyone they authorise books against it, their reference is carried on the booking and shown on the invoice, and they get a monthly invoice with a breakdown by journey, date and passenger, plus a named contact here. Ask whoever arranges travel where you work to call us.
Yes. Send the addresses in order with the times you need to be at each and we'll quote the day as one booking. Tell us roughly how long you'll be at each stop and whether that might move, since it changes whether a vehicle waits or comes back. Multi-stop journeys can be arranged where available.
Yes, and you never need to explain it. No conversation, no radio unless you ask for it. You can save it as a preference so it applies to every booking rather than being asked for each time — along with a named pickup point, driver details in advance, or a message instead of a phone call.
Where available, yes — the driver's name, the vehicle and the registration are shared ahead of travel. You can also name exactly where you'd like to be collected from, which matters more at half past five in the morning outside a large site than it does at midday.
No. We're an independent private hire company with no NHS, emergency service, local authority or Ministry of Defence contract, and no affiliation with any employer. Individual staff book with us directly, and employers can set up an account — that's the whole relationship.
The page is written for NHS and healthcare staff, emergency services, social care workers, armed forces personnel and education staff — because those working days share a shape. Nothing on this page is restricted to those jobs though: the fixed fares, the recurring bookings and the preferences are available to anyone. [CONTENT TEAM: if a discount exists with a defined eligibility list, that list goes here and must match the scheme's or RushXO's own published criteria exactly.]
For an early start or a night finish, the night before at the latest. For a rota block, as soon as you have the rota. For a multi-visit day, as soon as the round is confirmed. There's no cost to asking us to check a date.
An early start before anything runs, a finish at two in the morning, a day of visits, or a rota block set up once and left to run. Tell us the pattern and we'll quote it at a fixed fare — and if your employer wants an account and an invoice, we'll set that up in one call.
