M&S Bank Arena: on the waterfront, and worth a weekend

ms bank arena liverpool transfers fixed-price taxi booking with Rushxo

Liverpool's arena sits on the Kings Dock, part of a waterfront campus with a conference centre, an exhibition hall and a cruise terminal beside it. It is two hundred and fifty miles from Kent, which is a long way for one evening and a very reasonable distance for a weekend.

Waterfront

The arena, the convention centre, the exhibition hall and the cruise terminal all sit on the same dock. That concentration is unusual, and it is why a Liverpool trip tends to become more than just a show.

Not a day trip

Why Liverpool works better as a weekend

Two hundred and fifty miles each way for a three-hour show is a poor trade. Two nights changes the arithmetic completely.

THE DISTANCE

250 miles

Five hours each way with rest breaks. A day return is eleven hours in a vehicle.

THE CITY

Genuinely worth seeing

Waterfront, museums, the music history and the nightlife. Not a city to drive past.

THE CAMPUS

Everything on one dock

Arena, convention centre, exhibition hall, hotels and the cruise terminal, all walkable.

THE COST

A room is cheaper than the regret

Two nights split across a group is modest against the value of not driving through the night.

What else is on the Kings Dock

This is one of the few venues where the surrounding site genuinely adds to the trip.

Making the trip worth the distance

Two nights rather than one

A single night means arriving late, seeing the show, and leaving in the morning, which is a lot of driving for very little Liverpool. Two nights gives you a full day in the city and it is often barely more expensive once the transport is already paid for. Most of our Liverpool groups do it that way and none of them regret it.

Stay on the dock

There are hotels on the Kings Dock campus itself, which means the arena is a walk from your room and nothing further needs arranging. For a group who have travelled five hours, not having to think about another vehicle that evening is worth a great deal.

Combining with a cruise

The Liverpool cruise terminal is on the same waterfront. A handful of our bookings pair a sailing with a night in the city beforehand, and because everything is on one dock the logistics are simpler than they sound. Tell us if that is your plan and we will price it as one arrangement.

Coach, not minibus

Five hours each way is a long time in a minibus. A coach has room to move, proper luggage space underneath and a considerably better ride. For a group of twenty upwards it is often barely more expensive per head, and it is the difference between arriving fresh and arriving stiff.

M&S Bank Arena questions

Distance, format and the campus.

How far is Liverpool from Kent?

Around two hundred and fifty to two hundred and eighty-five miles, which is roughly five to six and a half hours each way including required rest breaks.

Is a day return realistic?

Technically, and we would advise against it. Eleven hours in a vehicle for a three-hour show is a poor trade. One night works; two nights is better and often barely dearer once the transport is paid for.

Where should we stay?

On the Kings Dock campus if you can. There are hotels beside the arena, which means nothing further needs arranging once you have arrived.

What else is on the same site?

The ACC convention centre, the exhibition centre, hotels and the Liverpool cruise terminal, with the Albert Dock and the museums ten minutes' walk away.

Can you combine this with a cruise?

Yes, and the terminal is on the same waterfront. Tell us both parts and we will price it as one arrangement.

Coach or minibus?

Coach, for anything above about sixteen people. Five hours each way is a long time, and a coach has proper luggage space and room to move.

Is the train an option?

For two or three people, yes. For a group with bags, the coach usually wins on both cost and convenience.

Is the fare fixed?

Yes, agreed before travel, whatever the motorways do.

Two nights beats one, and one beats none
