Typical journey times into central London
These are typical door-to-door times outside the worst of the rush hour. Allow more on Friday evenings, bank holidays and during major events.
- London City Airport – 30 to 50 minutes.
- Heathrow – 45 to 75 minutes.
- Luton – 60 to 90 minutes.
- Gatwick – 75 to 105 minutes.
- Stansted – 75 to 105 minutes.
- Southampton cruise terminals – about 2 to 2 hours 30 minutes from central London.
Choosing the right vehicle
Most problems on transfer day come from too little space. A saloon suits up to three passengers with two large cases. Choose an estate or MPV for families or anyone with several large cases, golf bags or a folding wheelchair. Groups of five or more usually travel more comfortably and cheaply in one people carrier or minibus than in two cars. Always list every large item when you book.
Meeting your driver
For airport collections, book with your flight number so the pickup is planned around the actual landing time. Your driver's number is shared in the confirmation; message them when you have your bags or if you are held at immigration. For hotels, stations and offices, give the exact entrance you will use. Large stations and hotels often have several.
Planning departures
Work backwards from the time you need to be there, not the time you would like to leave. For flights, add the journey time to the airline's recommended check-in time and a buffer for traffic. For cruises, use the check-in time on your boarding documents. For appointments and meetings, tell us the arrival time and we will suggest a pickup time.
Fixed fares, no surprises
Every RushXO journey is priced before travel. The fare does not rise with traffic, surge demand or a longer route. If your plans change, update the booking as early as possible so the vehicle and timing can be adjusted.
