Tobacco Dock: a Georgian warehouse with Georgian streets
Tobacco Dock is a listed warehouse from the early 1800s, with brick vaults and timber roofs that make it one of the more striking event spaces in London. It is also in Wapping, on streets laid out when goods arrived by barge, which is the part that affects your arrival.
Roughly when the warehouse was built, to store tobacco arriving by ship. Everything that makes it a beautiful venue also means the surrounding streets were designed for horses and handcarts rather than for three hundred people arriving by vehicle at seven in the evening.

Getting to Tobacco Dock
We agree a drop point rather than a doorstep
There is no forecourt and Wapping Lane is not a road on which a coach can sit. For a group we set a specific point nearby where a vehicle can legally and safely stop, usually a short walk from the entrance, and confirm it before the day. That is the whole of the access problem and it takes one conversation to solve.
Tell us the finish time, because it varies wildly
A conference ends at five, a corporate awards dinner at midnight and a music event considerably later. The same building does all three. Booking a collection on an assumption is how groups end up standing on Wapping Lane at one in the morning, and a specific finish time avoids it entirely.
It is close, which people forget
East London from Kent is one of our shorter runs, and Wapping is thirty to fifty-five minutes from Bexley or Bromley on a normal evening. For a corporate event that means guests from Kent can attend without an overnight, which is not true of a Mayfair or west London venue on a weekday evening.
Consideration matters here more than most places
This is a residential part of Wapping and events run late. Doors, voices and idling engines at midnight are noticed. We hold quietly, we do not park up outside houses with the engine running, and we would ask groups to bear the same in mind. It keeps the venue's relationship with its neighbours intact.
