How same-day dedicated delivery works
A normal parcel service works on a timetable. Yours is one of thousands of items collected onto a round, taken to a depot, sorted, moved overnight and delivered the following day or later.
A same-day dedicated job has no timetable. When you call, a vehicle is assigned to your consignment specifically. It drives to your collection point, loads your item, and drives directly to the delivery address. Nothing else goes in the vehicle and there are no other stops.

Overnight dedicated is the option people most often overlook. If your consignment must be on site before work starts tomorrow, an overnight run is usually cheaper than a daytime same-day job and just as certain — ask dispatch about it. For deadline-driven work generally, see time-critical courier.
Is a dedicated courier right for your job?
Not every urgent-feeling delivery needs a dedicated vehicle, and we would rather say so.

Straight advice: if you are sending something inexpensive and it can wait until tomorrow, a standard next-day service will cost far less and do the job perfectly well. Dedicated transport is worth paying for when the consequence of delay outweighs the price difference — not simply because a delivery feels urgent.

Same-day feasibility depends on distance and what time you call. As a rough guide, based on driving time alone:

What does same-day dedicated courier mean?
Your consignment is collected today and delivered today, in a vehicle assigned to it alone. There is no depot, no sortation and no other jobs on board, so the vehicle drives directly from your collection point to your delivery point.
How late can I book a same-day collection?
There is no cut-off in the way a parcel network has one, because a vehicle is dispatched specifically for your job. Whether same-day delivery is still achievable depends on the distance and the time you call, so phone 020 8888 9988 and dispatch will tell you straight away.
Do you deliver at weekends and on public holidays?
Yes. Dispatch operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including bank holidays. Weekend and overnight work is a normal part of what we do rather than an exception.
How much does same-day delivery cost?
Each job is priced individually, mainly on distance and routing including the return leg, the vehicle required, the time of day and any waiting time. You get a fixed price before the vehicle is dispatched, so there is no meter running.
Will my item be mixed with other deliveries?
No. That is the core of the service. Your consignment travels alone, which is why it can go directly and why timings are predictable.
How big an item can you carry?
From a single envelope to pallets and awkward heavy items, depending on the vehicle assigned. Tell dispatch the dimensions and weight, and whether lifting equipment is available at each end, and the right vehicle is sent first time.
Can I track the delivery?
You are given the driver's contact details so you can speak to them directly, and dispatch provides updates through the run. Proof of collection is recorded at pickup and proof of delivery at handover.
Do I need a business account?
No. Accounts are available for businesses with regular volumes, but one-off same-day jobs are perfectly normal. Call with the details and you will get a fixed price.
