Family Taxi to Wembley: Child Seats Fitted Before Pickup

Child seats are free, but they have to be fitted before the driver sets off. Ask at booking and the right seat is in the car when it arrives.

Child seats are free, but they need notice

Rushxo does not charge for child seats. What we cannot do is produce one at the kerb, because a seat has to be physically fitted and checked before the vehicle leaves for you. That means the request has to be part of the booking rather than a question asked when the car pulls up.

Give us each child's age and rough height and we will match the seat. If you are travelling both ways, the same seats stay in the vehicle for the return, so there is nothing to carry into the venue and nothing to arrange again afterwards.

The law, stated plainly

In an ordinary private car, children in the UK must normally use an appropriate child restraint until they reach 12 years of age or 135cm in height, whichever happens first. Licensed taxis and private hire vehicles are treated differently: where a suitable child seat is not available, a child may travel without one, seated in the rear, and children aged three and over must wear the adult seat belt.

That exemption exists to keep licensed transport usable in emergencies rather than to set a standard. Our view is straightforward: if a seat can be fitted in advance, it should be, and we would rather you booked one than relied on the exemption. It costs nothing and it is the safer arrangement for a long event-day journey.

Family logistics on a Wembley event day

1

Book the return before you leave home

With children this is not a saving, it is a necessity. Reorganising transport for a family in a post-event crowd with tired kids is the worst possible position to be in.

2

Give ages and heights at booking

Not just the number of children. The seat type depends on size, and getting it wrong means a delay at the door.

3

Mention the pushchair

Whether it folds, and roughly how big. It determines the vehicle and the boot space we allocate.

4

Set the pickup 20-30 minutes after the finish

Long enough for the crowd to thin, short enough that nobody is standing around past bedtime.

5

Agree a meeting point away from the crowd

Your driver confirms a road outside the cordon. With children, a five-minute walk to a quiet street is far better than twenty minutes in a crush.

6

Nominate one adult as the contact

One person holds the driver details and speaks to dispatch. It is faster and it avoids crossed wires.

Safety and licensing

Every Rushxo driver is licensed by Transport for London, enhanced-DBS checked, medically assessed and fully insured, and every journey carries public liability cover up to £10 million. Before pickup you receive the driver's name, the vehicle make, colour and registration, so you can confirm the car before anyone gets in.

Rushxo operates under TfL Private Hire Operator Licence 11588 and is registered at Companies House as company 16464640. Both can be checked independently, and with children in the car we would encourage you to check any operator you use.

Frequently asked questions

Do Rushxo taxis provide child seats for Wembley trips?
Yes, free of charge, but they must be requested when you book so the correct seat is fitted before the driver leaves the depot. Tell us each child's age and approximate height and we will match the seat type.
Can I add a child seat on the night?
No, and no operator can honestly promise otherwise. Seats have to be fitted in advance, so a request made when the driver arrives cannot be met. This is the single most common family booking mistake.
Does UK law require a child seat in a taxi?
In private cars, children must normally use a suitable child seat until they are 12 years old or 135cm tall, whichever comes first. Licensed taxis and private hire vehicles have an exemption where a seat is not available, in which case children travel in the rear. We would still rather fit the correct seat, which is why we provide them free.
How many children fit in one Rushxo vehicle?
An MPV takes up to eight passengers in total, and the practical limit is set by how many child seats are needed and where they can be fitted. Give us the exact ages at booking and we will confirm the right vehicle rather than guessing.
Is a family taxi better than the tube for a Wembley event?
For families with young children, usually yes. Wembley Park runs crowd-control queuing after events, and platform crushes with pushchairs and tired children are genuinely difficult. A pre-agreed pickup point away from the crowd avoids the worst of it.
Can we bring a pushchair?
Yes. Tell us at booking whether it folds and roughly how large it is, so we allocate a vehicle with enough boot space. A folded buggy plus bags is normally fine in an MPV but tight in a saloon.
