What to tell us when you book

Accessible journeys go wrong when information arrives too late, not when vehicles are unavailable. The more we know at the point of booking, the more of the problem is solved before anyone leaves home.

The type of wheelchair or mobility aid

Manual, powered, scooter or folding. Powered chairs and scooters have very different space and ramp requirements from a folding manual chair.

Whether you will transfer to a seat

Some passengers prefer to transfer into a standard seat with the chair stowed. Others travel seated in the chair. Both are fine; we need to know which.

Dimensions if the aid is unusually large

Approximate width, length and weight. This is the detail that determines whether a specific vehicle will work.

Any surface or gradient limitations

If a steep kerb, cobbles or a long ramp is a problem, say so. It changes which meeting point we choose.

Why event days need more planning

A Wembley event day adds three complications on top of an ordinary accessible journey, and each one is manageable if it is anticipated.

The cordon moves the pickup

Road closures mean the nearest workable pickup is not the venue entrance. For accessible travel we need to choose that point deliberately, with surface and distance in mind, rather than adapting on the night.

Crowd density

Ninety thousand people leaving at once makes any distance harder to cover. A shorter, quieter route to the vehicle matters far more than a marginally closer one.

Concentrated demand

Every accessible booking for an event wants a similar time window. Booking early is not a formality here; it is the difference between having a vehicle and not.

Timing flexibility

Leaving slightly before the final whistle, where you are willing to, avoids the densest crowd entirely and usually makes the whole journey easier.

Vehicles and what they suit

Accessible vehicles are a specialist part of the fleet and subject to availability, so early booking genuinely matters.

How to arrange it

1

Call or WhatsApp rather than booking blind

For accessible travel a short conversation is better than a form. Call 020 8888 9988 or WhatsApp us and we will confirm what is available for your date.

2

Book as early as you can

Several days ahead for a major event, more for a Cup Final or a sold-out concert.

3

Give us the venue postcode

Wembley Stadium is HA9 0WS. OVO Arena Wembley is HA9 0AA. The workable step-free pickup points differ between them.

4

Book both legs together

The return is the harder leg and the one where availability is tightest. Never leave it to be arranged afterwards.

5

Agree the meeting point explicitly

We will confirm a lit, level, kerbside location outside the cordon, and describe it clearly so there is no ambiguity on the night.

6

Tell us about companions and assistance dogs

So the vehicle has the right space. Assistance dogs travel free and are always welcome.

Our commitments, and their limits

Being straightforward about what we do not do is part of doing this properly. Rushxo drivers will operate the ramp, secure a wheelchair, help with luggage and wait patiently without charging for the time. They are not trained carers, and they cannot provide personal care or lift a passenger, so where that support is needed it must travel with you.

Every driver is TfL licensed, enhanced-DBS checked, medically assessed and fully insured, with public liability cover up to £10 million on every journey. Rushxo operates under TfL Private Hire Operator Licence 11588 and is registered as company 16464640. If anything about a booking is unclear, call us and speak to a person rather than guessing from a web page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I book a wheelchair accessible taxi to Wembley Stadium?
Yes. Wheelchair accessible, ramp-equipped vehicles are available on request through Rushxo. Because these vehicles are a specialist part of the fleet rather than a default, please book as far ahead as you can and tell us the specific requirement at the time of booking.
How far in advance should I book an accessible taxi for an event?
As early as possible, and ideally at least several days before a major Wembley event. Accessible vehicle availability is more limited than standard classes, and event days concentrate demand into the same few hours.
Do you charge extra for a wheelchair accessible vehicle?
No. Accessible vehicles are quoted on the same fixed-fare basis as any other Rushxo journey, and there is no event surge, no night premium and no additional charge for the ramp or for assistance.
Can the driver help me into the vehicle?
Drivers can assist with the ramp, with securing a wheelchair and with luggage. They are not trained carers and cannot provide personal or lifting care, so if you need that level of support please travel with someone who can provide it.
Will the pickup point be step-free at Wembley?
We agree the meeting point in advance with accessibility specifically in mind, looking for a lit, level, kerbside location outside the event cordon. Tell us about any surface or gradient limitations at booking and we will factor them in.
Are assistance dogs allowed in Rushxo vehicles?
Yes, always, and at no extra charge. Please mention the assistance dog at booking so the driver is expecting it and we can allocate a vehicle with appropriate space.
