Fixed-fare, door-to-door taxis to and from Royal Opera House in Covent Garden (WC2E 9DD) — Congestion Charge included, no surge, and a driver waiting after the final curtain.
Getting to Royal Opera House by taxi
The present opera house on Bow Street is the third theatre on the site, built in 1858 to E.M. Barry's design after two fires, and home to The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet. The glass-and-iron Paul Hamlyn Hall (the old Floral Hall), the Linbury Theatre and the 'Open Up' redevelopment make it one of the world's great lyric houses, with long evenings that suit a car to the door.
Bow Street faces the old Magistrates' Court and runs into the Covent Garden piazza, with Drury Lane and the market a step away. The cobbled, pedestrian-heavy approach means we set down at the Bow Street portico and the driver assists across the last few metres.
