By train. Chichester is the nearest station, about 1 hour 30 minutes from London. Southern runs direct trains from London Victoria; from Waterloo you change at Havant. A shuttle bus runs from Chichester station to the event between 07:00 and 20:00, timed to meet trains. The last buses fill up, so do not leave it to the final one.
Revival dress. Most visitors dress in period clothes from the circuit's original era, 1948 to 1966: tweed, tailoring, tea dresses, overalls. It is a big part of the day, and Goodwood's own style guide covers what to wear and what to avoid.
