Why December nights surge

App fares are set by demand, and between 11pm and 1am in the last three weekends before Christmas demand is at its yearly peak: office parties, theatre finishes and the last trains all end together. Multipliers of two or three times are normal and cars still take twenty minutes to arrive. A pre-booked Rushxo car is not part of that market. The fare was agreed when you booked it, the driver is assigned in advance, and if the party moves on to a second venue you text the new address.

How the late pickup works

You give us the venue and a time. The driver arrives five minutes early, parks legally as close as the street allows and texts you; in pedestrianised streets and the West End we tell you the exact corner. Waiting is charged at a flat rate if you are late, and the journey price does not change. For big groups we run several cars in a wave.

Last trains from London to Dartford, Sevenoaks, Chelmsford and Guildford leave before 1am and are often replaced by rail-replacement buses in December, which is why most of our late-night December work is groups heading home to Kent, Essex and Surrey.

Safety

Every driver is TfL-licensed and DBS-checked, every car is tracked and the driver name and registration are sent in advance, so the person organising the party can see who is taking whom home.
