One page for every Camden airport and international station transfer

Camden is one of the few London boroughs with a Eurostar terminal inside its own boundary, yet it is also the borough where the same airport fare can differ by £40 depending on which side of it you live. This hub collects every fixed fare from Camden to Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and London City, and to St Pancras, Stratford, Ebbsfleet, Ashford and Birmingham International – in both directions, for all seven Rushxo vehicles.

The borough was formed in 1965 from the old metropolitan boroughs of Hampstead, Holborn and St Pancras, and it still splits along those lines for a taxi: the southern half (Camden Town, Euston, King's Cross, Bloomsbury, Holborn) is central London, the northern half (Hampstead, Belsize Park, Kentish Town, West Hampstead) is not. Everything below is written with that in mind.

Each card shows the fixed saloon fare from both halves of the borough, the saloon return, and links to the detailed one-way pages in each direction. The Book buttons open the booking page with the route filled in, so you see the exact price for your date and time before paying.

Why the fare changes inside Camden

Rushxo prices by road miles plus a small set of fixed charges. Two of those charges depend on postcode. When either end of the trip is in a central district, an £18 Congestion Charge allowance is added before the percentage uplift; when either end is in the extended central surcharge zone, a flat £20 is added on top (£40 on a return). NW1, WC1 and WC2 – Camden Town, Primrose Hill, Euston, Somers Town, Bloomsbury and Holborn – are in both. NW3, NW5 and NW6 are in neither.

Short trips feel this most. Because a saloon never costs less than the £75 minimum, the Congestion Charge allowance is often absorbed by that floor, but the £20 surcharge is not. For longer trips such as Gatwick, both apply in full, which is why a Camden Town pickup costs noticeably more than one in Hampstead for a similar distance.

If you are staying near a boundary – say on the Kentish Town side of Camden Road, or in Belsize Park rather than Chalk Farm – book with your actual street address; the engine reads the postcode and prices it correctly.

Camden pickup guide, area by area

Camden stretches from Holborn in the south to Highgate and Hampstead Heath in the north. These notes come from how pickups actually go on each patch – where to stand, which roads to avoid, and whether the central surcharge applies.

AreaPostcodeCentral surcharge?Pickup notes
Camden TownNW1YesPick a side street off Camden High Street or Chalk Farm Road; weekend market crowds slow cars on the main road.
King's Cross & Somers TownN1C / NW1YesStation-area roads are busy with bus and cycle lanes – name a hotel entrance or a numbered building on your street.
EustonNW1YesStation roads around Euston have changed with the long-running HS2 works; a street address a short walk away is often easier than the station forecourt.
Bloomsbury & HolbornWC1 / WC2YesHotel-dense; give the hotel name and the driver uses its set-down point. Garden-square streets are largely one-way.
Fitzrovia (Camden side)W1TYesCharlotte Street area: narrow streets with limited stopping, so be ready at the kerb.
Primrose HillNW1YesQuiet residential streets – door-to-door pickups are simple here.
Kentish Town & Tufnell Park borderNW5NoOutside the surcharge zone; Kentish Town Road is a bus route, residential side streets are quicker.
Gospel OakNW5 / NW3NoGood for Luton and Stansted runs, which head north-east without crossing central London.
HampsteadNW3NoSteep, narrow streets and restricted parking around Heath Street; the driver may wait on the nearest wider road and message you.
Belsize Park & Swiss CottageNW3NoDirect access to Finchley Road – the fastest start for Luton (M1) and a good one for Heathrow.
West HampsteadNW6NoWest End Lane gets congested near the three stations; a residential road pickup is best.
Highgate (Camden side)N6NoHilly village streets; allow a few extra minutes in winter.

For hotels, give the hotel name as well as the address; for Airbnb-style flats in mansion blocks, add the block name and a phone number the driver can reach. The car arrives at the booked time, and the driver waits for you at no extra charge.

Camden to London's five airports – route guides

Heathrow is west, Gatwick is south across the river, Luton and Stansted are north and north-east, and London City is east along the Thames. From Camden the northern airports are often quicker than the map suggests, and Gatwick is slower. Here is what to expect on each run.

Camden to Heathrow Airport

Heathrow is Camden's most booked airport. Cars from Camden Town and Primrose Hill join the Marylebone Road; from Hampstead and West Hampstead the driver may cut across via Kilburn to the A40. Tell us your terminal when you book – Terminals 2 and 3 share a road system, Terminal 4 is on the south side, and Terminal 5 has its own spur off the M25 approach. The forecourt drop-off charge is inside the fare.

  • Road miles: 19.8
  • Usual time: 40–60 min
  • Usual route: Marylebone Road, the A40 Westway and the M4, or the A4 when the Westway is slow
  • Public transport alternative: Piccadilly line direct from King's Cross St Pancras, or the Elizabeth line from Farringdon or Tottenham Court Road.

Camden to Gatwick Airport

Gatwick is where Camden travellers most often underestimate the journey. There is no motorway out of north London to the south, so the car threads through central London before picking up the A23 at Brixton and the M23 near Hooley. The North Terminal and South Terminal are linked by a free shuttle, but give the right one when you book so you are dropped at your airline's door.

  • Road miles: 33.7
  • Usual time: 75–105 min
  • Usual route: South through central London via Vauxhall, then the A23 and M23
  • Public transport alternative: Thameslink runs direct from St Pancras International, a short hop from Camden Town.

Camden to Luton Airport

From Swiss Cottage, Belsize Park and Hampstead, Luton is the most direct airport run in the borough – up the Finchley Road to the M1 at Staples Corner or Brent Cross and north to junction 10. From Camden Town the car heads up to the same motorway via Swiss Cottage. Luton's drop-off zone is close to the terminal doors, and its charge is included.

  • Road miles: 34.2
  • Usual time: 50–75 min
  • Usual route: Finchley Road (A41) to the M1, then junction 10 and Airport Way
  • Public transport alternative: Thameslink or East Midlands Railway from St Pancras to Luton Airport Parkway, then the Luton DART shuttle to the terminal.

Camden to Stansted Airport

Stansted is the airport for most budget carriers' European routes. From Camden the driver usually heads through Holloway or Tufnell Park to the North Circular and onto the M11. Stansted is a single terminal; drop-off is at the forecourt beside it and the charge is covered in your fare. Early departures from 06:00 onwards are common, so a 03:30 pickup is normal for us.

  • Road miles: 38.3
  • Usual time: 60–85 min
  • Usual route: A1 and the North Circular (A406) to the M11, then junction 8
  • Public transport alternative: Victoria line from Euston or King's Cross to Tottenham Hale, then the Stansted Express.

Camden to London City Airport

London City is the airport for Camden's business travellers, particularly from King's Cross and Holborn offices. The car runs east through the City and the Limehouse Link to the Royal Docks. The terminal is compact and check-in closes much closer to departure than at the larger airports, so you can leave later.

  • Road miles: 10.5
  • Usual time: 30–50 min
  • Usual route: City Road, the A1203 Limehouse Link and the A1020 to Silvertown
  • Public transport alternative: Northern line to Bank, then the DLR to London City Airport.

Camden to England's five international stations

Five stations in England carry "International" in their name. St Pancras is the Eurostar terminal; Stratford, Ebbsfleet and Ashford sit on the HS1 high-speed line to Kent; Birmingham International serves Birmingham Airport and the NEC. Only St Pancras currently has Eurostar departures, but all five are regular Rushxo pickups and drop-offs.

Camden to St Pancras International

St Pancras International is on the borough's southern edge, next to King's Cross. It is Eurostar's London terminal for Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, and the start of Southeastern high-speed services into Kent. Eurostar passengers pass through security and passport checks before boarding and gates close before departure, so arrive with time to spare – longer at peak times. Your driver drops at the Eurostar entrance.

  • Road miles: 1.5
  • Usual time: 8–15 min
  • Usual route: Camden Road or Crowndale Road to Pancras Road
  • By train instead: Northern line from Camden Town, Kentish Town or Belsize Park to King's Cross St Pancras, or the 214 and 390 buses.

Camden to Stratford International

Stratford International sits beside Westfield Stratford City and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Despite its name, Eurostar trains do not stop here; it is served by Southeastern high-speed trains between St Pancras and Kent, and by the DLR. Rushxo customers use it for events at the London Stadium, for Westfield and for HS1 connections.

  • Road miles: 6.8
  • Usual time: 25–40 min
  • Usual route: Via the A501, Hackney and the A12
  • By train instead: Southeastern high-speed from St Pancras International in about seven minutes.

Camden to Ebbsfleet International

Ebbsfleet International, near Dartford and Bluewater, is on HS1. Eurostar calls have been suspended since 2020, so today it is mainly a Southeastern high-speed station and a pickup point for north Kent. From Camden the car crosses the Thames by tunnel and follows the A2. Any tunnel user charge is covered by the fixed fare.

  • Road miles: 26.5
  • Usual time: 50–75 min
  • Usual route: East through the Blackwall or Silvertown tunnel, then the A2
  • By train instead: Southeastern high-speed from St Pancras International in under 20 minutes.

Camden to Ashford International

Ashford International is Kent's main HS1 interchange. Like Ebbsfleet it has had no Eurostar stops since 2020, but it remains busy with high-speed trains and is the nearest major station to the Channel Tunnel terminal at Folkestone. Camden customers book it for family visits in Kent, for the Ashford Designer Outlet and to connect with Le Shuttle by road.

  • Road miles: 67
  • Usual time: 1 h 35 min – 2 h
  • Usual route: A2, a short stretch of the M25, then the M20 to junction 9
  • By train instead: Southeastern high-speed from St Pancras International in about 40 minutes.

Camden to Birmingham International

Birmingham International station is linked to Birmingham Airport by the free Air-Rail Link and is a short walk from the NEC. The fastest public option starts in Camden itself, at Euston, so a car is mainly for groups, exhibitors with equipment and families flying from Birmingham. The drive leaves Camden via the Finchley Road and the M1.

  • Road miles: 108
  • Usual time: 2 h – 2 h 40 min
  • Usual route: M1, M6 and M42 to junction 6
  • By train instead: Avanti West Coast direct from Euston, a little over an hour.

Choose the right vehicle

All fares on this page are for the whole vehicle, not per person. Pick by passengers and, just as importantly, by luggage.

Arriving into Camden from an airport or Eurostar

Every route on this page is priced the same in reverse, so Heathrow to Camden costs exactly what Camden to Heathrow does. Book with your flight or train number and the driver follows its real arrival time: at the airports you are met in the arrivals hall with a name board; at St Pancras the driver meets you on the Eurostar arrivals concourse.

Landing late is common for evening flights into Gatwick and Stansted, and there is no night surcharge, so a 01:00 arrival costs the same as one at noon. Going home to Hampstead, Belsize Park or West Hampstead is also the cheaper direction to price, because NW3 and NW6 are outside the central zones.

Camden airport transfer questions

How much is a taxi from Camden to Heathrow?
A fixed saloon from Hampstead, Kentish Town, Belsize Park or West Hampstead (NW3, NW5, NW6) to Heathrow is £85. From Camden Town, King's Cross, Bloomsbury or Holborn (NW1, WC1, WC2) it is £105, because those postcodes sit inside Rushxo's central London surcharge zone. The price covers the whole car, the Heathrow drop-off charge and the driver waiting for you, and it is the same from Heathrow back to Camden.
Why is Camden Town dearer than Hampstead for the same airport?
The booking engine adds the £18 Congestion Charge allowance and a £20 central London surcharge whenever either end of the trip is in a central postcode. NW1, WC1 and WC2 qualify; NW3, NW5 and NW6 do not. Mileage from the two ends of the borough to most airports is similar, so the zone, not the distance, explains most of the gap.
Which London airport is cheapest to reach from Camden by taxi?
Heathrow and London City are the cheapest airports from north Camden at £85 each. Luton is £92, Gatwick £93 and Stansted £101. The shortest paid ride on this page is to St Pancras International at £75.
How long is the drive from Camden to Gatwick?
Gatwick is about 33.7 road miles from Camden and usually takes 75 to 105 minutes, because the car has to cross central London and the Thames before joining the M23. Early-morning pickups before 06:00 are typically at the quicker end.
Can you pick up from Camden Market or Camden Lock?
Yes. Give the market entrance or the nearest side street as the pickup; the driver will message on arrival. Chalk Farm Road and Camden High Street are busy with buses and pedestrians, especially on weekends, so a quieter street a minute's walk away usually gets you moving sooner.
Do you meet Eurostar passengers at St Pancras?
Yes. Share the train number when you book and the driver follows its arrival time, then meets you on the concourse and walks with you to the car. If the train is late the fare does not change.
St Pancras is close to Camden – is a taxi worth it?
For one person with a backpack, probably not; the Northern line or a short walk works. With big cases, children, a steep Hampstead street or a pre-dawn Eurostar, a £75 fixed car from north Camden saves the stairs and the wait, and the 8-seater costs £135 for a group.
Is a return cheaper than two singles?
Yes. Returns are priced at 1.9 times the single, about 5% less than two one-way fares. A Hampstead–Heathrow return in a saloon is £162.
Are there surcharges at night, at weekends or at Christmas?
There is no night surcharge. The live engine adds 20% for Friday journeys, Saturday and Sunday pickups before noon, weekday trips into London between 07:00 and 10:00 and out of London between 16:00 and 19:00, and a seasonal supplement between 17 December and 1 January. The exact amount is shown before you pay.
Why take a car from Camden to Birmingham International instead of the train from Euston?
Avanti trains from Euston are quick if you travel light. A car makes sense when you are heading to the NEC with display kit, flying from Birmingham Airport with a family, or travelling in a group: the £249 9-seater fare covers up to eight people door to door.
What if my flight into Heathrow or Gatwick is delayed?
Your flight number is tracked and the pickup moves with the actual landing time at no extra cost. The driver meets you in arrivals with a name board.
Can I cancel or add child seats?
Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup, and child seats are fitted free when you give the children's ages at booking.
