What is included in a fixed taxi fare?

what is included in a fixed taxi fare fixed-price taxi booking with Rushxo

Everything in the price, everything that isn't, and the add-ons that turn a cheap quote expensive elsewhere.

A fare is only transparent if you know what it covers. This page sets out exactly what's included in a Rushxo fixed fare, what could legitimately change it, and the hidden extras that commonly turn a tempting quote from another operator into an unpleasant total.

Key takeaways

  • Included: tolls, crossing charges, airport drop-off fee.
  • Included: meet-and-greet and free arrival waiting.
  • Included: flight tracking — delays don't cost you.
  • Not a charge: traffic, night hours, demand, strikes.
  • Watch elsewhere for: waiting fees, toll add-ons, card surcharges, parking.

01 / INWhat's in the price

Tolls and crossing charges. Dartford Crossing, the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels — if the route needs them, they're in the fare. You won't get a bill afterwards, and you won't need to pay anything online.

The airport drop-off charge. Every major London airport now charges vehicles to use the terminal forecourt. It's in the quote. (This one catches people out constantly with other operators — and unpaid airport charges turn into penalty notices weeks later.)

Meet-and-greet. A named driver waiting in arrivals with a board, and help with your luggage. Not an upgrade — standard.

Free arrival waiting. Time to clear immigration and baggage reclaim, with the driver waiting and no meter running.

Flight tracking. We monitor your flight and move the pickup to your real landing time. A three-hour delay costs you nothing.

02 / OUTWhat can legitimately change the price

We'd rather state these plainly than bury them. The fare covers the journey as booked. It can change if you change the journey: adding extra stops, changing the destination, adding passengers or luggage that need a larger vehicle, or waiting substantially beyond the included free waiting period. Standard cancellation terms apply.

That's the list. Nothing else moves it.

03 / NEVERWhat will never change it

Traffic. No meter. A jam is our cost.
The time of day. No unsociable-hours surcharge — 3am costs the same as 3pm.
Demand. No surge, ever — not on strike days, not on New Year's Eve.
Your flight being late. Tracked, waited for, unchanged.
The weather. Not your problem, and not your bill.

04 / WATCHThe hidden extras to check for — anywhere

When comparing quotes — ours or anyone's — ask what's excluded. The common ones:

Waiting time charges that begin the moment you land, so a slow passport queue costs you. Tolls billed separately, which can add a surprising amount on a Kent route. Airport parking or drop-off fees added at the end. Card surcharges. Luggage fees for a bag that doesn't fit. And surge multipliers, which can dwarf everything else combined.

The comparison that matters isn't headline against headline — it's all-in against all-in. A slightly higher fixed fare that covers waiting, tolls and meet-and-greet is frequently cheaper in practice than a bargain quote with a list of extras.

05 / ASKGet it in writing

Whoever you book with, get the fare and what it includes confirmed in writing before you travel. An operator that's happy to spell it out is telling you something. One that's vague is also telling you something.

FAQFrequently asked questions

What's included in a Rushxo fixed fare?

Tolls and crossing charges, the airport drop-off fee, meet-and-greet with a named driver, free arrival waiting to cover immigration and baggage, and flight tracking so delays don't cost you. All in the quoted price.

Are tolls and the airport drop-off charge included?

Yes — both are in the quote. You won't be billed afterwards and you won't need to pay anything online, which is how people end up with penalty notices weeks later.

What could change my fare?

Only changes you make to the journey: extra stops, a different destination, additional passengers or luggage needing a bigger vehicle, or waiting substantially beyond the included free waiting period. Standard cancellation terms apply.

Do I pay more if there's traffic or my flight is late?

No. There's no meter, so traffic is our cost, and we track your flight with free arrival waiting, so a delay doesn't change the fare.

What hidden charges should I look for elsewhere?

Waiting-time charges starting at landing, tolls billed separately, airport parking or drop-off fees added at the end, card surcharges, luggage fees, and surge multipliers. Always compare all-in against all-in.

Is there a surcharge at night?

No — a 3am pickup costs the same as 3pm. There's no unsociable-hours surcharge, which is why we can cover the early departures when trains aren't running.
