Twickenham Stadium to Leeds Taxi, Straight Home After the Match
A taxi from Twickenham Stadium to Leeds is a long evening drive of around 201 miles, almost entirely motorway once you reach the M25, and a saloon to Leeds station costs £405 for the whole car rather than per seat. In light traffic the journey takes about 3 hr 50 min, so with an afternoon kick-off and a sensible pickup time you are home before the small hours. One booking covers the group, the fare is fixed when you book, and the driver collects you a short walk from the ground instead of in the crush outside the stands.
Why Yorkshire supporters drive home from Twickenham
Getting back to Leeds by rail after an international means three separate crowds. First comes the queue for Twickenham station, which on a sell-out day is held behind barriers and released in batches. Then a packed South Western Railway train into Waterloo, the Tube across to King's Cross, and finally an LNER service north on which every seat may already be taken. Miss one link and the rest of the evening unravels.
A car removes all of those connections. It suits groups of four to eight who came down together, parents with teenagers who have been on their feet since lunchtime, and anyone carrying coats, flags and overnight bags who would rather sleep than stand in a train vestibule. Shared four or eight ways, the cost per person is worth setting against last-minute rail tickets, particularly once the cheaper advance fares for a big match weekend have gone.
Meeting your driver near the ground
On match days the streets around the stadium are closed to traffic before kick-off and stay closed until most of the crowd has gone, so no car can wait at the gates. When you book, choose a spot a few minutes' walk from the ground and away from the flow towards the station: a pub you know in Whitton or St Margarets, a side road off the A316, or the hotel where you left your bags. Write the exact place in the booking notes, and message the WhatsApp line on +44 7466 237870 as you leave your seat.
Most groups set the pickup 45 minutes to an hour after full time. That covers the walk out, a drink while the A316 clears, and the period when stewards are still holding vehicles back. If you plan to stay for a post-match function, book the time you will actually be ready rather than the final whistle.
The road north to Leeds
Your driver will normally take the A316 west to the M3, pick up the M25 at Junction 12 and stay on it clockwise, past Heathrow, as far as the M1 at Junction 21a. When the western M25 is jammed, the alternative is east through Chiswick and along the North Circular to the start of the M1 at Staples Corner. Either way, the rest is one motorway for well over 150 miles, through Northamptonshire, the East Midlands and South Yorkshire, until the M621 branches off at Junction 43 to bring you into Leeds city centre. For Headingley, Roundhay or Horsforth the driver goes through or around the centre, whichever is quieter at that hour.
A comfort stop is normal on a drive of this length; Watford Gap and Woodall are the usual choices, and you can say when booking if you would like a proper meal break. Friday journeys, and weekday pickups between 4pm and 7pm, carry a 20% supplement. A Saturday afternoon fixture does not, because the weekend supplement only applies before noon.
What the trip costs
Each price covers the vehicle, not the individual, and is locked in when you book. Eight people and their bags fit the 9-seater, which costs £454 as far as the station, while the executive car is £438 for a hospitality group travelling in an E-Class. Booking the journey down at the same time, through our Leeds to Twickenham Stadium taxi page, takes 5% off both legs.
