RushXO provides pre-booked private hire for civil and humanist weddings, naming ceremonies, non-religious funerals and memorials, conferences and family gatherings — plus airport transfers, hotel journeys, station connections and long-distance travel across the UK.
Ceremonies like these happen almost anywhere: a register office in a town centre, a country house at the end of a single-track lane, a garden, a barn, a hotel, a woodland. Which is lovely, and creates one specific problem that nobody thinks about until quite late — how everybody gets there, and more importantly how everybody gets home.
Venue in the middle of nowhere? Start with the end-of-night section — it's the part of a wedding day that most often goes wrong, and the easiest to fix months in advance.
Rural and semi-rural venues are among the most popular places to hold a ceremony in this country, and they share a set of conditions that make the end of the evening genuinely difficult:
The result is a group of guests standing in a car park at half past midnight discovering that the plan was never actually a plan.
Booked in advance, this is straightforward. What we need from you is the shape of the evening rather than a list of individual journeys:
We'll then quote a set of vehicles and timings as one arrangement, agreed months ahead, with the fares fixed where applicable. Guests know in advance which car they're in and when. Nobody stands in a field.
Content team: confirm how multi-vehicle bookings at a single venue are priced and coordinated, what the minimum notice is for a large dispersal, and how far RushXO will travel for this. This is the page's central promise and its highest-value enquiry type — verify capability before publishing rather than after the first booking.
Booked a venue with no transport nearby? Send the location, guest numbers and curfew time.
Plan guest transportCeremonies vary enormously — in length, in format, in where they happen and in how many separate events they involve. We don't assume any particular shape. Tell us the schedule and we'll build the vehicles around it.
Register office ceremonies are typically short and run to a tight slot, in town-centre buildings where parking ranges from difficult to impossible, often followed by a move to a completely different venue for everything else. Two things help: give us the appointment time rather than a pickup time so we can work backwards, and expect the drop-off to be a short walk away — the nearest legal stopping point frequently isn't the door.
Worth flagging because it catches people out. In England and Wales, humanist ceremonies are not currently recognised as legally binding marriages in their own right, so couples who want one usually also complete a separate legal registration — often a brief appointment on a different day, sometimes at a different location. The position in Scotland differs, and Northern Ireland differs again.
Legal arrangements do change, so confirm your own position with your celebrant or registrar rather than relying on a transport company. What matters at our end is simply that you may have two dates and two venues rather than one, and both need arranging. Tell us both and we'll quote them together.
Send the whole picture to one person here: dates, venues, guest numbers, hotels, curfew. See wedding transfers.
To be plain about scope: we provide passenger transport. Not wedding planning, not celebrant services, and no decorated, vintage or ceremonial vehicles unless confirmed separately — ask and we'll tell you exactly what we can supply.
A naming ceremony is usually a small, warm occasion with a fixed start time, held at a venue, a hall or someone's home, followed by a gathering — and involving at least one passenger who will need a car seat.
The same applies to anniversaries, milestone birthdays and other gatherings built around a fixed time. See event transfers.
Funeral directors normally provide cars for the immediate family. Everyone else — wider family, friends, colleagues, and people travelling from other parts of the country or from abroad — usually arranges their own transport, at short notice and often somewhere they don't know.
Non-religious services add a particular wrinkle: they're frequently held somewhere other than a crematorium chapel. A pub, a hotel function room, a family home, a village hall, a natural burial ground down a farm track. Those are often harder to reach and harder to leave than a town-centre venue, and taxis local to them may not exist.
They arrive early, help with doors and bags, wait where they've been asked to wait, and otherwise stay out of the way. They won't make conversation about the occasion unless you start it. We are a private hire company, not a funeral provider — no hearses, no cortège vehicles, no funeral or bereavement services of any kind. Your funeral director handles all of that.
If it's easier to talk it through than fill in a form, call "020 8888 9988" and describe roughly what the day looks like. We'll work out the rest.
Conferences, lectures, educational programmes, workshops, fundraising events and community gatherings share the same logistics: fixed start times, venues nobody has been to, and a return journey when transport is hardest to find.
Advance booking matters most where an event lands in a small town or the venue has limited parking. Tell us the venue and timings and we'll flag anything likely to be awkward.
Booking for other people? Organisers and administrators regularly book for speakers and delegates. Give us the traveller's name and number as well as yours — the driver contacts them, you get the confirmation.
See group and 8-seater transfers. We don't operate minibuses or coaches — where a group is genuinely large enough to need one, a coach operator is the better answer and we'll say so rather than stretching to fit. For a wedding dispersal, several cars and 8-seaters usually beats a coach anyway, because guests leave in waves rather than all at once.
Most airport journeys on this page are someone arriving for an occasion. What matters is that they're met, taken directly where they're going, and not left working out British public transport after a long flight — particularly when the destination is a village nobody has heard of.
Where meet & greet applies, your driver waits in arrivals with a name board. Where flight monitoring is available, the transfer follows the actual landing time, and eligible airport bookings include complimentary waiting of up to 60 minutes, subject to our booking terms. We quote against your specific date rather than publishing journey times.
The most likely arrival points for guests travelling from overseas. Both have multiple terminals — tell us which when you book.
Stansted and Luton carry a high share of late arrivals; London City is the quickest to clear and closest to the centre.
Full detail: London airport transfers. We also cover train station transfers, cruise transfers and UK-wide private hire.
Arrival day is when a pre-booked car earns its keep — particularly if the destination is a small village or a venue with no station near it. Booking in advance fixes the price, the vehicle and the meeting point while you still have time to think.
A venue an hour from London on a map can take considerably longer on a Friday afternoon, and the last stretch is often single-track. If you have a ceremony to be at, tell us the time you need to arrive and we'll say honestly whether the flight works.
Screenshot the confirmation before you fly. Roaming and airport Wi-Fi are unreliable at exactly the moment you need them — and so, frequently, is signal at the venue.
If anything matters — a fixed arrival time, waiting, a drop-off point, what happens if the flight is delayed — ask before you confirm.
People describe themselves in all sorts of ways. Humanist, atheist, agnostic, non-religious, spiritual, "not really anything" — and those words don't mean the same thing as each other. Humanism is a positive outlook people hold rather than simply an absence of religion, and plenty of non-religious people wouldn't call themselves humanists at all.
None of which we need to know. We ask for an address and a time. The reason for your journey and what you believe are not fields on our booking form and never come up.
This isn't a separate service, and it isn't a special one. It's the ordinary service, and it works the same way for everyone: professional drivers, fixed fares where applicable, and a car that turns up. This page exists because civil ceremonies, naming days and memorials have particular transport requirements — not because anyone needs a different kind of taxi.
Drivers are expected to be courteous and neutral, and not to raise religion, politics or personal beliefs — including if a passenger raises them first.
Requirements vary and so do vehicles, so what we can arrange depends on your specific need, your location and your date. Tell us before booking rather than hoping on the day — this matters especially at rural venues, where the nearest firm ground a car can stop on may be a long way from the marquee.
Content team — highest-risk section on the page. Publish no claim about wheelchair-accessible vehicles unless RushXO genuinely operates them and can say where and when. If they aren't offered, say so plainly and signpost a provider who does. An ambiguous claim that fails someone at a rural venue with no alternative within twenty miles is considerably worse than an honest "we can't". Replace this box with an accurate statement either way.
Call "020 8888 9988" before booking and we'll tell you honestly what we can arrange. See also assisted and door-to-door travel.
Examples of journey types — not fixed routes, scheduled services or dedicated RushXO routes. Everything is quoted individually against its own date, time and addresses.
One car, or a whole evening's worth. If it's a guest dispersal, start with the number of people and the curfew rather than with addresses.
Name, address, and anything the postcode won't tell a driver — a farm track, an unmarked gate, which entrance, where a car can turn round.
A register office slot, a ceremony start, a venue curfew. If there's a time you must be there by, give us that rather than a pickup time.
Whether the vehicle stays through a ceremony or service and continues afterwards, and roughly for how long.
So transfers follow the actual arrival where flight monitoring is available.
Both numbers, plus child seats, mobility needs or a companion travelling with you.
Ideally not the couple, and not the closest family member at a funeral. One person our drivers can reach.
Where fixed pricing applies, the quoted fare — covering every vehicle and any agreed waiting — is the fare you pay.
One written confirmation covering the whole arrangement, plus driver and vehicle information ahead of travel where available.
Content team: verify every step against the live booking flow; remove rather than reword anything the system doesn't support — particularly steps 1, 4 and 7. This sequence deliberately differs from the other six community pages; keep that difference.
A whole evening's guest transport planned and quoted as one arrangement, months ahead.
Arranged in advance and confirmed in writing before travel.
Agreed at booking, with no surge pricing and no hidden costs.
TfL-licensed for applicable London journeys and DBS-checked where applicable.
Available on eligible bookings, with a name board in arrivals.
Where available, transfers follow the actual arrival time.
Up to 60 minutes complimentary on eligible airport bookings, subject to current terms.
Standard and executive, plus group and 8-seater vehicles where available.
Airports, hotels, stations, venues, ports and long-distance rural journeys.
Send the full picture and we'll quote it as one plan rather than a dozen bookings.
What we don't claim: RushXO is not humanist-owned or humanist-operated, has no affiliation with or endorsement from Humanists UK or any humanist, secular or non-religious organisation, and is not a specialist humanist transport provider. We don't provide celebrant services, wedding planning, funeral directing or bereavement support. Where a transport company is vague about any of that, it's worth asking why.
Book it in advance as one arrangement. Send us the venue, the number of people leaving, roughly when they'll go — usually in waves — where they're heading, and the venue's curfew time. We'll quote a set of vehicles and timings as a single booking, with fares fixed where applicable, so guests know in advance which car they're in.
This is worth arranging months ahead rather than weeks. It's also the single thing most likely to go wrong on the day if it's left to chance.
Yes — guest arrivals, hotel-to-venue transfers, ceremony-to-reception moves with waiting, family vehicles and end-of-night dispersal. Send the dates, venues, guest numbers and curfew and we'll quote the whole thing as one plan. We provide transport only, not celebrant services or wedding planning.
Yes, and it's worth telling us about both at the same time so we quote them together. In England and Wales couples often complete a separate legal registration in addition to a humanist ceremony, sometimes on a different day and at a different venue; arrangements differ in Scotland and Northern Ireland, and the legal position can change. Confirm your own with your celebrant or registrar — from our side, it's simply two bookings to plan.
Yes. Register office ceremonies run to tight slots in town centres with difficult parking, so give us the appointment time rather than a pickup time and expect the drop-off to be a short walk from the door. We'll also cover the move to wherever you're going afterwards.
Yes, including the ceremony-to-gathering leg with waiting, and collections for grandparents and relatives. Tell us how many children are travelling and their ages so we can confirm what's possible on seating. [CONTENT TEAM: state the actual child seat policy.]
Yes. We regularly cover the journeys a funeral director's cars don't — wider family, friends, and people arriving from elsewhere. That includes a vehicle that waits through the service and continues to wherever people gather afterwards.
Non-religious services are often held somewhere other than a crematorium — a pub, a hall, a home, a natural burial ground — which can be harder to reach, so send any directions you have. We're a private hire company, not a funeral provider; we don't supply hearses or cortège vehicles. If it's easier to talk it through, call 020 8888 9988.
Usually, but tell us in advance rather than leaving the driver to find out. Unmade tracks, unmarked gates, no turning space, gravel that becomes a problem in bad weather, and postcodes that resolve half a mile away are all common at rural venues. Send whatever directions the venue gives couples — they'll have them, because everyone asks.
Yes, for individual delegates, speakers arriving by air or rail, and groups across several vehicles where available. Multi-day programmes can be quoted as one itinerary.
Where the option applies to your route and date, yes. Give us passenger and luggage counts — both matter. We don't operate minibuses or coaches; for a guest dispersal, several cars and 8-seaters is usually better anyway, because people leave in waves rather than all at once.
Yes, in both directions and with several vehicles departing together where a group is moving at once. Booking the return at the same time is strongly worth doing for evening events.
Meet & greet is available on eligible airport bookings — your driver waits in arrivals with a name board. Where flight monitoring is available, give us the flight number and the transfer follows your actual landing time. Eligible airport bookings also include up to 60 minutes of complimentary waiting, subject to our booking terms.
Yes, including several arrivals across different days and airports coordinated as one arrangement. Give us the flight numbers and a contact number for each traveller as well as your own — drivers contact them directly and you receive the confirmations.
Yes, alongside standard options and subject to availability on your route and date. Ask us to quote both if you'd like to compare. We don't supply decorated, vintage or ceremonial vehicles unless confirmed separately.
No. We ask for addresses, times, passenger numbers and a contact number. The reason for your journey isn't a field on the booking and won't come up. Drivers are expected to be courteous and neutral and not to raise religion, politics or personal beliefs.
For a wedding with guest transport at a rural venue, as soon as the venue and date are fixed — months ahead is normal, and summer Saturdays go first. For a register office ceremony or a naming day, a few weeks is usually fine. For a funeral or memorial, call us; these are often arranged at short notice and we'll tell you straight away what's possible.
RushXO is a UK private hire company providing pre-booked ground transportation. We are not humanist-owned or humanist-operated, and we have no affiliation with, approval from or endorsement by Humanists UK or any humanist, secular or non-religious organisation.
We do not provide celebrant services, wedding planning, funeral directing, bereavement support, hearses or cortège vehicles, and we do not supply decorated, vintage or ceremonial vehicles unless separately confirmed at the time of booking.
Nothing on this page is legal guidance. Where the copy mentions arrangements for legally recognising a marriage, confirm your own position with your celebrant, registrar or a qualified adviser.
Booking transport with RushXO covers the journeys you have arranged with us, and nothing more.
A venue down a lane with no taxis for twenty miles. A register office slot and a reception across town. A memorial at a place the satnav can't find. Send us the venue, the numbers and the times, and we'll quote the whole thing as one arrangement.
