Luton airport taxi prices: fixed fares from the terminal

A Luton airport taxi with Rushxo is a fixed fare per car, agreed when you book and unchanged by traffic, the hour or the M1. The driver meets you inside the single arrivals hall with a name board, your flight is tracked, and 60 minutes of waiting after landing is included. The tables are our published saloon fares from Luton; the same price applies to the airport, and a return booked together is 10% off.

Every fare includes the driver, fuel, the drop-off charge, the Congestion Charge and ULEZ where they apply, and meet and greet. Executive cars, 6-seat MPVs and 8-seater minibuses are quoted the same way, per vehicle rather than per person.

One terminal, no DART needed: pickups and the £7 drop-off charge

London Luton has one compact terminal used by every airline, with easyJet, Wizz Air, Ryanair and TUI making up most of the schedule. It sits about 35 miles north of central London off junction 10 of the M1, 55 to 85 minutes by road, and it is the closest airport to St Albans, Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Milton Keynes and Bedford, all of which are short fixed fares for us.

Drop-off outside the terminal is a barrierless charge of £7 for up to ten minutes, then £1 a minute to a 30-minute maximum (September 2026; check london-luton.co.uk for changes). We include it in your fare. For pickups the driver uses the short-stay car park and meets you inside arrivals. The Luton DART, the people-mover between the terminal and Luton Airport Parkway station, is only for rail passengers: if we are driving you, you never need it.

Meet and greet, flight tracking and 60 minutes of free waiting

Give us the flight number and we monitor it from departure. Land early and the driver is already there; land late and the pickup moves with the flight at no cost. From touchdown you have 60 minutes of free waiting; if passport control or the baggage hall overruns, the driver waits and the fare does not change. You receive the driver’s name, photo and registration the day before and their direct mobile on the day, and our UK dispatch desk answers 020 8888 9988 24 hours a day. Our meet and greet page explains the process step by step.

  1. Get the fare: pickup and drop-off on the booking page give an instant fixed quote; or message +44 7466 237870 on WhatsApp, or call 020 8888 9988.
  2. Confirm: pay online by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay, or secure the car with a 30% deposit and settle the balance 24 hours before travel. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup.
  3. The day before: the driver’s name, photo and registration arrive with the meeting point in arrivals.
  4. On the day: the flight is tracked, the driver texts when in position, and a return booked together is 10% off.

Taxi, DART and train, Uber or coach from Luton

By rail you ride the DART to Luton Airport Parkway, then a Thameslink or East Midlands Railway train to St Pancras in about 25 to 40 minutes, and then whatever the onward leg looks like with cases. For one person with a cabin bag and a destination near the Thameslink line it is good value. It does not go to Kent, Essex or most of outer London, and the early easyJet bank leaves before the first trains are useful.

Uber does operate at Luton, from a designated pickup area, at a price that can move with demand. A pre-booked fixed fare is door to door, per car, settled before you fly, with the driver inside the terminal. For two or more people, a family with luggage, a 6am departure or a late arrival, or anywhere outside central London, it is usually the better value once the last leg is counted, and always the more predictable.

Why book your Luton taxi with Rushxo

Rushxo is a TfL-licensed private hire operator (licence 11588) based in Dartford, Kent. Luton is the far side of London for most of our customers, which is exactly why they book it: Dartford, Bromley, Bexley, Gravesend and the Medway towns to Luton around the M25 and up the M1 at a fixed fare quoted before we leave, rather than a metered guess or a train with two changes. We cover every London postcode, Kent and Essex 24 hours a day, and the 4am pickup costs what the 4pm one costs.

Drivers hold TfL licences and enhanced DBS checks, vehicles are licensed and insured, and the company carries £10m public liability cover. Read what customers say, or see our guides to early-morning Luton flights and early arrivals into London.

Luton Airport transfers: questions

How much is a taxi from Luton Airport?

Our published saloon fares from Luton start from £65 for the nearby Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire towns, from £125 to the West End and about £170 for the City and Canary Wharf, per car for up to four passengers, including the drop-off charge and 60 minutes of waiting after landing. The tables above show each destination, and the same price applies in the other direction.

Is it easy to get a taxi at Luton Airport?

With a pre-booked car, yes: the driver is inside arrivals with a name board when you land. Without one you are choosing between the rank, an app pickup area and the DART to the station, at a time of day when all three can be busy.

Can I use Uber at Luton Airport?

Yes, from the airport’s designated pickup area, at a price that can change with demand. A Rushxo fare is fixed when you book, includes the drop-off charge and meet and greet, and does not move on the day.

Is the Luton DART cheaper than a taxi?

The DART plus a train to St Pancras is cheaper for one person with a cabin bag going somewhere near the Thameslink line. For two or more, anyone with luggage, an early or late flight, or a destination beyond central London, a fixed fare per car is usually cheaper once the onward leg is counted, and it is door to door.

Is there a charge for being picked up or dropped off at Luton Airport?

The forecourt drop-off charge is £7 for up to ten minutes, then £1 a minute (September 2026). We include it in the fixed fare. For pickups the driver uses the short-stay car park and meets you inside arrivals, so there is nothing to pay on the day.

Where do I meet my pre-booked driver at Luton?

Inside the single arrivals hall, at the meeting point named in your confirmation, holding a name board. The driver’s mobile number is in the same confirmation.

What happens if my flight is delayed or lands early?

We track the flight and move the pickup either way at no cost. Free waiting runs for 60 minutes from the actual landing time, and if the terminal is slow the driver waits without a change to the fare.

How far in advance should I book a Luton airport taxi?

The day before is enough for most journeys; 48 to 72 hours ahead is wise for early departures, bank holidays and Christmas. Same-day bookings are often possible by phone on 020 8888 9988.

Do you cover St Albans, Watford and Milton Keynes from Luton?

Yes. St Albans, Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Dunstable, Hitchin and Northampton are all fixed fares in the table above, with the same price in the other direction.

Can I cancel or change a Luton booking?

Yes. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup, and changes to time or address are made by phone or WhatsApp at no cost. Pay by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay online, or a 30% deposit with the balance due 24 hours before travel.

One fixed price. Booked in two minutes.
