Reliable Gatwick transfers when the trains stop
Gatwick Express, Southern and Thameslink are hit by strikes, engineering works and late-night closures, often at the start of the school holidays. Your Rushxo fare is fixed when you book and does not change because of rail disruption, late landings or busy periods.
- Door to door with all your cases, no platform changes with children and luggage
- Flight tracked, so a delayed landing costs you nothing extra
- Booked 24/7, including early-morning and late-night flights when trains are not running

Gatwick airport taxi prices: fixed fares from both terminals
A Gatwick airport taxi with Rushxo is a fixed fare per car, agreed when you book and unchanged by traffic, the hour or how busy the M23 is. The driver meets you inside the arrivals hall of the North or South Terminal with a name board, your flight is tracked, and 60 minutes of waiting after landing is included. The tables are our published saloon fares from Gatwick; the same price applies to the airport, and a return booked together is 5% off.

Every fare includes the driver, fuel, the forecourt drop-off charge, the Congestion Charge and ULEZ where they apply, and meet and greet. Executive cars, 6-seat MPVs and V Class minibuses are quoted the same way, per vehicle rather than per person.

North or South Terminal: where we meet you and the drop-off charge
Gatwick has two terminals about a mile apart, linked by a free shuttle that takes two to three minutes. British Airways, TUI, Emirates and part of the easyJet schedule use the North Terminal; most easyJet, Ryanair and Vueling flights use the South Terminal. Airlines occasionally switch, so it is on your booking and we confirm it with you the day before. Each terminal has its own arrivals hall, and that is where your driver waits.
Drop-off at both terminals is a barrierless forecourt charge of £10 for up to ten minutes, then £1 a minute to a 30-minute maximum (September 2026; the airport publishes changes on its own site). We include it in your fare. For pickups the driver uses the short-stay car park beside the terminal, walks over and waits inside arrivals, so nobody is standing on the forecourt with cases.
| Gatwick at a glance | Detail |
|---|---|
| Terminals | North and South, free shuttle between them |
| Drop-off charge | £10 for 10 minutes, then £1 per minute; included in our fare |
| Pickup point | Short-stay car park; driver meets you inside arrivals |
| Distance to central London | About 28 miles, 55 to 90 minutes via the M23 and A23 |
| Distance to Heathrow | About 45 miles, 60 to 90 minutes via the M25 |
| Rail alternative | Gatwick Express to Victoria in about 30 minutes; Thameslink to London Bridge and St Pancras |
Heathrow to Gatwick taxi: the airport-to-airport transfer
Heathrow to Gatwick is the transfer we are asked about most, because there is no direct train and the coach takes a busy motorway at its own pace. By car it is about 45 miles around the M25, 60 to 90 minutes in normal traffic, and we run it as a fixed fare from £85 for a saloon: the driver meets you inside arrivals at Heathrow, loads the cases and drops you at the right Gatwick terminal door with the drop-off charge paid. The reverse direction is the same price. For a connection we ask for both flight numbers, track the inbound, and advise a pickup that leaves a sensible margin for the second check-in. See the Heathrow to Gatwick taxi page for the full route notes.
Gatwick drop-off charge
£10 forecourt charge. Included in every Rushxo fare.
Pickups. Your driver parks and meets you inside arrivals.

Meet and greet, flight tracking and 60 minutes of free waiting
Give us the flight number and we monitor it from departure. Land early and the driver is already there; land late and the pickup moves with the flight at no cost. From touchdown you have 60 minutes of free waiting; if passport control or the baggage hall overruns, the driver waits and the fare does not change. You receive the driver’s name, photo and registration the day before and their direct mobile on the day, and our UK dispatch desk answers 020 8888 9988 24 hours a day. Our meet and greet page explains the process step by step.

Gatwick Airport transfers: questions
How much does a taxi cost from Gatwick Airport to central London?
Our published saloon fares from Gatwick to central London start from £105 to Victoria and Westminster, are about £159 for the West End and £160 for the City, and run to about £168 for Canary Wharf, per car for up to four passengers, including the forecourt charge and 60 minutes of waiting after landing. The tables above show each destination, and the same price applies in the other direction.
How much is a taxi from Heathrow to Gatwick?
A saloon from Heathrow to Gatwick is £122 per car, fixed at booking, for up to four passengers with luggage. The 45-mile drive around the M25 usually takes 65 to 130 minutes, and the same fare applies from Gatwick to Heathrow.
Do I have to pay a drop-off charge at Gatwick?
Not with us. Gatwick charges £10 for up to ten minutes on the terminal forecourts (September 2026); we include it in the fixed fare. Pickups use the short-stay car park and the driver meets you inside arrivals.
Which terminal do I need, North or South?
Your airline decides. British Airways, TUI and Emirates mostly use the North Terminal; most easyJet, Ryanair and Vueling flights use the South Terminal. It is on your booking, airlines do move, and we confirm the terminal with you the day before.
Is a taxi cheaper than the Gatwick Express?
For one person travelling light to Victoria, the train usually is. For two or more, anyone with luggage, an early or late flight, or a destination beyond central London, a fixed fare per car is usually cheaper once the onward leg is counted, and it is door to door.
How do I book a Gatwick airport taxi in advance?
Online for an instant fixed quote, on WhatsApp at +44 7466 237870, or by phone on 020 8888 9988. Pay by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay, or a 30% deposit with the balance 24 hours before travel. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We track the flight and move the pickup automatically. Free waiting runs for 60 minutes from the actual landing time, and if the terminal is slow the driver waits without a change to the fare.
How many passengers and bags fit in a Gatwick taxi?
A saloon carries up to four passengers with two large cases and hand luggage; an MPV carries five or six with up to six cases; an V Class minibus carries seven or eight with up to eight cases. Tell us the numbers at booking and the right vehicle is allocated.
Do you cover Brighton, Crawley and Sussex from Gatwick?
Yes. Brighton is about 26 miles down the A23, roughly 30 to 45 minutes, and Crawley, Horley, Worthing, Eastbourne and Guildford are all fixed fares in the tables above.
Are you available for early and late flights at Gatwick?
Yes. Dispatch runs 24 hours a day, every day, and the fare is the same at any hour, with no night surcharge.
What is the best way to get from Gatwick to central London?
Gatwick Express trains leave the South Terminal twice an hour and reach London Victoria in about 30 minutes. That works well if you are travelling light and staying near Victoria. With suitcases, children or a hotel away from the station, a pre-booked Rushxo car takes you door to door from £105 fixed.
Should I pre-book a Gatwick taxi or use the taxi rank?
A rank taxi runs on the meter, so the fare depends on traffic and the queue depends on how many flights have just landed. A pre-booked Rushxo fare is fixed before you fly; your driver meets you in arrivals with a name board and we track your flight, so a delay does not change the booking or the price.
How far in advance should I book a Gatwick transfer?
Book as soon as your flight times are confirmed so the right vehicle is reserved, especially if you need an MPV, an 8-seater or a very early pickup. Pickups run 24/7.
Can I book a Gatwick transfer for a family of four with two young children?
Yes. For four people with luggage an MPV is the comfortable choice. Child seats are available: add each child's age when you book. Under UK rules, if a suitable child seat is not available in a licensed taxi or private hire car, children under 3 may travel in the rear without one and children aged 3 or over must wear an adult seat belt in the rear, so asking for seats when you book is the safer choice.
How much is a taxi from Gatwick to central London?
Saloon fares to central London hotel districts start at £105 (South West London) and run to £165 (North West London); see the table above. Fares are fixed at booking for up to four passengers with luggage. Outer London and local runs start from £94. Ask on WhatsApp for a quote on returns, groups and regular bookings.
Is there a night surcharge for late-night or early-morning flights?
No. Fares are the same at every hour of the day. There is no night premium, so an early-morning Gatwick run costs the same as a daytime transfer.
What happens if my flight into Gatwick is delayed?
Your driver tracks the flight. If your landing time moves, the pickup moves with it, and the 60 minutes of free waiting still starts from the actual touchdown, so there is no waiting charge.
Are baby seats or child seats provided?
Yes. Age-appropriate child seats are fitted free of charge when you give the children's ages at booking.
Can I pre-book a taxi to Gatwick for 4am or 5am?
Yes. Book any time of night at the same fixed fare. Your driver is named the day before and tracks your flight.
How much is a taxi from Gatwick to Southampton cruise terminal?
A saloon from Gatwick to the Southampton cruise terminals is £184 per car, fixed at booking.
How much is a taxi from Gatwick to Dover cruise port?
A saloon from Gatwick to Dover Cruise Port is £202 per car, fixed at booking.
