A pre-booked driver waiting in the arrivals hall at London Southend Airport with your name on a board, the flight tracked so a late landing costs nothing, and a fixed fare to anywhere in Essex, London or Kent agreed before you fly. How the pickup works at Southend

Give us the flight number when you book. The driver tracks the aircraft, times the arrival to the actual landing and waits in the arrivals hall, which is small enough that you cannot miss the board. Sixty minutes of waiting after landing is free, so a queue at the border or a slow bag does not cost anything. The car is in the short-stay car park a minute's walk away, or, if you prefer, the driver meets you at the forecourt outside. Southend's own drop-off charge applies to the forecourt and is inside your fare.

Southend versus the train

Southend Airport station is next to the terminal with Greater Anglia trains to Stratford and Liverpool Street in about an hour, and for one person going to the City on a weekday it is hard to beat. The meet and greet car wins for two or more people, hold luggage, any destination not on that line (Kent, south London, the M25 towns, Stansted), late-evening arrivals after the frequent service drops, and anyone who simply wants to be met. See Southend Airport transfers for the full service and Southend train vs taxi for the comparison.

Common questions

Where does the driver meet me at Southend Airport?
In the arrivals hall, with a name board, or at the forecourt outside if you prefer kerbside. The terminal is small and the driver is easy to find.
How long will the driver wait if my flight is late?
Sixty minutes after the actual landing time at no charge. Flights are tracked, so the driver arrives for the real landing, not the scheduled one.
How much is a taxi from Southend Airport to central London?
From £198 for a saloon, fixed at booking, about 70 to 100 minutes depending on the A13 and the hour.
Do you cover Southend to Stansted?
Yes. Southend Airport to Stansted is from £127, flight tracked at both ends, about 50 to 70 minutes.
Is the Southend forecourt drop-off charge included?
Yes. Any airport forecourt charge is paid by us and included in the fixed fare.

Flying to Europe? EES questions answered

Will I go through EES at Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted?

No. UK airports do not run EES. When you fly to a Schengen country, you register on arrival at the European airport, and your exit is recorded when you fly home.

How early should I get to a European airport for my flight home?

ABTA advises arriving at least two hours before departure, because the EES exit check can add time at busy airports.

Do children have to register for EES?

Yes, every non-EU traveller gets a record, babies included. Children under 12 are photographed but not fingerprinted.

Do I need ETIAS as well?

Not yet. ETIAS, the EU's separate online travel authorisation, has not launched, so there is nothing to apply for. The EU will announce a start date months in advance; until then, avoid websites that charge for it.

EES is the EU's digital border check for non-EU travellers, fully in use since April 2026. It is not a visa. Checked September 2026; rules can change, so see the EU Travel to Europe site before you travel.
