"Connected" is rare and valuable at Heathrow: only the Sofitel (T5), Hilton Garden Inn (T2) and Holiday Inn Express (T4) have covered walkways, with the Thistle's POD a close fourth. Everything else — even hotels that look close on a map — needs the Hoppa, a local bus or a car. Note too that a "free hotel shuttle" is largely a myth here: the Hotel Hoppa is chargeable, and free public buses (or the free travel zone for a few central hotels) often beat it.

Hotels by terminal

Pick by the terminal you're flying from — though remember the free inter-terminal train links T2, T3 and T5, so a T2/3 hotel can work for T5 and vice versa.

Hotels by price tier

Rough nightly off-peak starting points — peak dates and events push these up. Always compare live prices.

Luxury & upscale (5★ / premium 4★)

Sofitel London Heathrow (5★, from ~£150) is the flagship. Upscale 4★ options include Hilton T5, Radisson Blu Edwardian, Sheraton, Renaissance, Crowne Plaza, London Heathrow Marriott, Hyatt Place and Courtyard by Marriott (~£85–110).

Mid-range (comfortable 4★ / strong 3★)

Novotel, Delta Windsor, Holiday Inn Bath Road, Leonardo, Radisson Conference, Radisson RED, Staybridge Suites (aparthotel), Hilton Garden Inn and Best Western Ariel (~£65–95).

Budget (reliable 3★)

Premier Inn T2 & T3 & Premier Inn T5, Holiday Inn Express T4 & T5, Thistle T5, Moxy, ibis, ibis Styles, ibis Styles East, Travelodge Central and B&B Hotel (~£55–70).

Ultra-budget (2★)

ibis budget London Heathrow Central (from ~£50) is the lowest-cost pick — functional, cashless, and sharing its building with the Travelodge.

Parking & pools at a glance

Hotels with a swimming pool

Genuinely few Heathrow hotels have a pool. Free-to-use: Crowne Plaza, Novotel, Delta Windsor and London Heathrow Marriott (indoor pools). Hilton T5 has an indoor hydrotherapy pool & spa. Charged (~£5pp): the pool shared by Radisson Conference and Radisson RED (they share a building). The Radisson Blu Edwardian has the Pegasus spa but no swimming pool. Every other hotel here has no pool — don't assume.

Parking notes worth knowing

Reaching the terminals from your hotel

Four ways to get from a Heathrow hotel to your terminal, and when each makes sense:

OptionBest forWatch out for
Covered walkway / PODSofitel (T5), Hilton Garden Inn (T2), Holiday Inn Express (T4), Thistle (POD)Only these — everyone else needs transport
Hotel HoppaHotels on/near Bath RoadChargeable (~£4.50–6.50); not every route serves every terminal
Free / public busCentral hotels in the free travel zone; bus 423/60 etc.Slower; luggage space limited at peak
Taxi / pre-booked carEarly flights, families, luggage, any terminal 24/7Book ahead for a fixed fare & meet-and-greet

The big myth to retire: the "free hotel shuttle." At Heathrow the Hotel Hoppa is a paid service, and for many hotels a free public bus is cheaper — while for T4 and T5 you often change onto the free inter-terminal train. For a guaranteed door-to-door pickup with a fixed fare, meet-and-greet and flight tracking, a pre-booked RushXO car covers every terminal around the clock.

FAQs about Heathrow hotels

Which Heathrow hotels are actually connected to a terminal?

Only a handful. The Sofitel is connected to T5 by a covered walkway, the Hilton Garden Inn to T2, and the Holiday Inn Express to T4; the Thistle T5 uses the driverless POD. Every other hotel — even those that look close — needs the Hotel Hoppa, a bus or a car.

Which Heathrow hotels have a swimming pool?

Free pools: Crowne Plaza, Novotel, Delta Windsor and the London Heathrow Marriott. The Hilton T5 has a hydrotherapy pool and spa. The Radisson Conference and Radisson RED share a charged pool (~£5pp). Most other Heathrow hotels have no pool, so don't assume.

What's the cheapest hotel near Heathrow?

The ibis budget London Heathrow Central is typically the lowest (from ~£50), with the Travelodge Central, B&B Hotel and Premier Inns close behind. Budget rooms are cheap but breakfast and parking are usually extra — factor those in.

Is there a hotel with a kitchen for longer stays?

Yes — the Staybridge Suites is an extended-stay aparthotel with full kitchens, free breakfast and free laundry, ideal for longer or family stays.

Do any Heathrow hotels have a free airport shuttle?

Effectively no. The Hotel Hoppa is a paid shuttle (about £4.50–6.50), and for many hotels a free public bus is actually cheaper. A few central hotels sit in a free travel zone. For T4 and T5 you often change onto the free inter-terminal train.

Which hotels are best for Windsor or LEGOLAND?

The Slough/Colnbrook-side hotels — Delta Heathrow Windsor, Holiday Inn Express T5 and the B&B Hotel — are closest to Windsor and LEGOLAND, and several sit outside the ULEZ, which helps if you're driving.

Which hotels take pets?

Pet-friendly options include the Sheraton, Crowne Plaza, Moxy, Staybridge Suites and ibis Styles Heathrow East. Policies and fees vary, so confirm with the hotel before booking.
