The problem sits on the handling desk

An FBO is judged on how a departure feels. When something goes wrong with an aircraft on your ramp, the operator calls you — and the passenger is often standing in your lounge while it happens.

What makes FBO work differentWhy
The aircraft is usually transientIt is not based with you. There is no local spares holding for that type, and often no engineer who knows it
You are the operator's only local contactWhatever the problem, it lands on your desk to coordinate
The clock is a departure, not a shiftA slot, a crew duty limit and a client's schedule, all fixed
It is visibleThe passenger sees the delay happening in your building
Notice is shortFaults are found on a walk-round or at start-up, not days ahead

The transport question is nearly always the same: the part exists, but it is somewhere else — an OEM stockist, the operator's home base, a workshop, another airfield. Closing that gap quickly is what we do.

The calls FBOs make to us

SituationThe movement
Transient aircraft goes techPart collected from a stockist or the operator's base and driven to your ramp
Departure at riskA component needed before a scheduled slot
Engineer travelling inTooling or a part positioned to arrive with, or before, the technician
Operator sending a part to youCollected from their stores and delivered to your facility for the inbound aircraft
Unit removed, needs to go outUnserviceable component driven from your ramp to an MRO or exchange pool
Crew or client itemsDocuments, equipment or baggage that must reach the aircraft before departure
Cargo release elsewhereImported spare cleared at a cargo terminal and needing a run to you

Working at short notice

The awkward truth about FBO transport requests is that they arrive with almost no lead time and usually outside office hours. That is not an edge case — it is the normal condition.

One call, a person answersDispatch is staffed 24/7 — nights, weekends, public holidays. No form, no ticket queue
Vehicle assigned on confirmationNot held for a cut-off or a trunk to fill
Honest timing on the first callYou need to tell the operator something realistic. We would rather give you a firm answer than an optimistic one you have to retract
Driver contact sharedSo you or the operator can speak to the driver directly instead of relaying through us
Redirectable in transitIf the aircraft moves stand, or goes to a different facility, the vehicle can be redirected
What we will not do is guess. If a deadline is not achievable by road we say so on the call, while you still have time to find another answer. An FBO that passes on an optimistic estimate and then has to walk it back has a worse afternoon than one that got a straight answer first.

Handover at your facility

Where we deliverTo your FBO, handling desk, hangar or nominated point, into the hands of a named contact
Beyond a security boundaryArranged through you, the operator or the handling arrangement — tell dispatch at booking so it is planned in advance
Out-of-hours arrivalsConfirm who is on the desk at the hour the vehicle is due
Onward to the aircraftHandled by your team or the operator's engineer once the consignment is with you
Proof of deliveryCaptured at handover and confirmed back, so you have a record for the operator

The single most useful detail is a named person with a mobile number who will take the consignment. On a facility that runs shifts, "the FBO" is not a recipient.

What we do and don't claim

What we doDetail
Answer at any hourA person who can commit a vehicle, 24/7
Dedicated vehicle per jobNo consolidation, no multi-drop routes
Honest timing before you commitSo you are not passing on an estimate you have to retract
Driver contact sharedYou or the operator can speak to the driver directly
Redirectable in transitIf the aircraft or handover point changes
Proof at both endsA record you can give the operator
UK-wideCollections anywhere for delivery to your facility
What we don't claim. RushXO does not advertise airside access, formal aviation security accreditation, temperature-controlled or GDP-certified transport, or a guaranteed response time. We deliver to your facility and hand over to your nominated contact; movement beyond a security boundary is arranged through you or the operator. If a job needs more than that, tell us on the call and we will say honestly whether we are the right fit.
Want us on the list before you need us? Most FBOs set up an account in advance so that when something goes wrong at 22:00 the commercial side is already settled.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can you get a part to our FBO?

A vehicle is assigned as soon as the job is confirmed. Timing depends on where the part is and the hour, so instead of publishing a blanket figure we give you a realistic assessment on the first call — which matters because you have to pass it on to the operator. Phone 020 8888 9988.

Do you answer out of hours?

Yes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week including public holidays. Most FBO requests arrive outside office hours, which is precisely when a parcel network cannot help.

Can you collect from an OEM stockist or the operator's base?

Yes. We collect from wherever the part is — a type-specific stockist, the operator's engineering stores, a component workshop, another airfield or a cargo terminal — and drive it direct to your facility.

What if the deadline is not achievable?

We tell you on the call. Passing an optimistic estimate to an operator and then retracting it is worse for you than getting a straight answer while there is still time to find an alternative.

Where exactly do you hand the consignment over?

To your handling desk, hangar or nominated point, into the hands of a named contact. We do not advertise airside access; movement beyond a security boundary is arranged through you or the operator.

Can the operator speak to the driver directly?

Yes. Driver contact details are shared so you or the operator can reach them without relaying through dispatch.

Can you take a removed unit away?

Yes. Unserviceable components are driven from your facility directly to an MRO, workshop or exchange pool, with proof of collection and proof of delivery.

Do we need an account?

Not for a one-off job, but many FBOs set one up in advance so the commercial side is already agreed when something goes wrong at short notice. Speak to dispatch about invoice terms.
