The thing nobody checks
Bank holiday weekends are precisely when the rail network schedules its major engineering works. The Gatwick Express, the Stansted Express, the Heathrow rail links and the main lines out of Euston and Paddington are all regularly closed or reduced on the exact weekends when most people fly.
Check before you rely on it. National Rail publishes engineering works weeks ahead. A replacement bus service to an airport, with luggage, at 05:00, is a bad start to a holiday.
What happens to prices
Demand spikes, supply does not, and ride-hail surges. Our fares are fixed at booking — a bank holiday costs exactly what a Tuesday costs, and there is no night or weekend uplift.
Book earlier than you think
- Bank holiday Fridays and Mondays are our busiest days. Vehicles are finite even when prices are fixed.
- Flight-tracked — if the delay cascade starts, the driver adjusts free.
- Groups and luggage — one 8-seater beats a rail replacement bus and two ride-hails.
