Luton Airport Hotels Guide 2026 – On-Airport, Luton Town, Harpenden and St Albans
Luton's earliest departures leave before 06:00 and the summer security queue means arriving two hours before, which puts the alarm before 03:00 for anyone driving from London. A hotel on or near the airport removes that. This guide groups the options by distance and character, with the fixed transfer fare to the terminal.
Hotels by distance from the terminal
Transfer fares are fixed saloon prices for up to four passengers. Short runs are priced at the minimum fare.

| Area | Typical hotels | To terminal | Transfer (saloon) |
|---|---|---|---|
| On airport | Courtyard by Marriott (walkway), Holiday Inn Express Luton Airport, Hampton by Hilton, ibis and ibis Budget | 2–5 min walk or shuttle | from £65 |
| Luton town | Leaside, Premier Inn Luton Town Centre, Travelodge | 10 min drive | from £75 |
| Harpenden | Harpenden House, Glen Eagle Manor, Premier Inn | 15–20 min | from £75 |
| St Albans | Sopwell House, Clarion Collection, Premier Inn and Travelodge | 20–25 min | from £75 |
| Milton Keynes | Full choice for a stop en route from the north | 30–40 min | from £84 |

For an early flight
The Courtyard by Marriott is joined to the terminal by a walkway and the Holiday Inn Express and Hampton are a few minutes on the shuttle; for a 05:30 departure that is the whole solution. Harpenden and St Albans are the choice if you want a good dinner and a quieter night, and a pre-booked car at 03:30 is twenty minutes to the drop-off zone with the charge included. The Luton early morning page covers the timings from London if you would rather not stay.
For a late arrival
Late-evening arrivals from the Mediterranean with a long drive home are the other reason to stay, and the on-airport hotels take walk-ins on the night. If you would rather push on, fixed fares from Luton at midnight are the same as at noon: central London from £170, St Albans and Harpenden from £75, with the driver meeting you in arrivals. See the Luton Airport transfer page to book and the Luton terminal guide for the layout on arrival.

Which hotel is inside Luton Airport?
How much is a taxi from a St Albans hotel to Luton Airport?
Is it worth staying near Luton before an early flight?
Can I get a taxi from Luton to a hotel late at night?
Do you do hotel to airport transfers for groups?
Flying to Europe? EES questions answered
How early should I get to a European airport for my flight home?
ABTA advises arriving at least two hours before departure, because the EES exit check can add time at busy airports.
My flight home might land late because of EES queues. What happens to my transfer?
Give your flight number when you book, so the driver can follow the actual landing time rather than the scheduled one.
Do children have to register for EES?
Yes, every non-EU traveller gets a record, babies included. Children under 12 are photographed but not fingerprinted.
Do I need ETIAS as well?
Not yet. ETIAS, the EU's separate online travel authorisation, has not launched, so there is nothing to apply for. The EU will announce a start date months in advance; until then, avoid websites that charge for it.
EES is the EU's digital border check for non-EU travellers, fully in use since April 2026. It is not a visa. Checked September 2026; rules can change, so see the EU Travel to Europe site before you travel.
