Staying at the Holiday Inn Southend gives you more than an airport hotel — it's a gateway to the Essex coast, and worth exploring if your trip allows. Southend-on-Sea is famous for its pier, the longest pleasure pier in the world, stretching over a mile into the Thames Estuary, with a little train running along its length. The seafront offers the traditional pleasures of the British seaside — amusements, fish and chips, and estuary views — while Old Leigh, the atmospheric fishing quarter of neighbouring Leigh-on-Sea, charms with its cockle sheds, pubs and boats. The wider area has nature reserves, beaches and coastal walks. For those combining a flight from London Southend Airport with a little time by the sea, or simply passing through, the coast is a pleasant bonus right by the hotel. London Southend Airport itself has grown as a convenient alternative to the bigger hubs, serving European destinations with the ease of a smaller airport. A fixed-price transfer handles the journey to and from London or across Essex, and the short hop to the terminal, while the seaside setting adds a touch of the holiday even before you fly. It's a practical base with a genuine sense of place.
