Choose the entrance nearest where you are going: the two ends of Tottenham Court Road are about 230 metres apart underground.
Check where the train is going
Heading east, the line splits just after Whitechapel: trains go either to Abbey Wood via Canary Wharf, or to Shenfield via Stratford. Heading west, trains go to Heathrow (Terminals 4 or 5), to Reading, or terminate at Paddington. The platform screens and the front of each train show its destination.
How often trains run
In the central section, trains run up to 24 times an hour at peak times, roughly every two to three minutes. The line does not run all night.
Platform screen doors and step-free access
Paddington, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, Liverpool Street, Whitechapel, Canary Wharf and Woolwich have full-height glass doors at the platform edge. All 41 Elizabeth line stations are step-free from street to platform, which makes it the best line for luggage, pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Fares
Most journeys cost the same as the Tube and count towards daily caps; tap in and out with the same contactless card or Oyster. Journeys to Heathrow cost more, at £15.50 from central London in 2026.
